Impressions OP6?

Got mine yesterday, wireless charging, expandable memory and aod were my objections initially, but I knew that coming in.

Biggest disappointment so far is the camera, reviews pointed to it being pretty good but so far I am finding it poor with soft images. Actually wondering if mine could be defective.

I received my OP6 today. Overall, I am really like the phone so far. It is fast and smooth. I have the Matte Black version, and it looks good, but it is very slippery. I like cases, so that does not bother me at all. The phone is 256gb model so not having a removable SD card is a moot point for me. The screen is a little dim in the sun but still usable. I will report back when I get more time in on the device.

Hey man don't you have the P20 Pro?

Similar impressions here. Phone is super smooth, display looks good and the notch doesn't bother me. Like the almost full screen display and love my 256 GB. More Android phones need 256 GB since I prefer a larger internal storage than SD card. Photos look fine based on one or two I have taken. Speaker sounds loud but quality is alright, not great like other dual speaker phones.
Overall great first impressions, nothing mind blowing but nothing unexpected as well. Usual one plus good stuff.

Using on T-Mobile and signal looks great so far, love it has band 71, has VoLTE but doesn't have WiFi calling (not a issue personally).

Glad you are enjoying it thus far!

Oh man. What happened?

Nothing, One of my co-workers saw and wanted to buy. I told him to order on eBay but was going on vacation and did not want to wait. He offered me $50 more than I paid for it so I sold it.

It has WiFi calling. The you turn it on in the Sims setting menu.

Wow. That's a good deal. The P20 is a looker though and I'm still considering saving up for it.

Some quick observation after few days of use. WiFi connection seems to be not the best compared to my other phones. For example on my XZ2 WiFi is pretty strong always and never cuts off. With OP6 I do see frequent WiFi connection issue, even though WiFi shows strong sometimes it just doesn't pull in any data. Initial few days didn't observe that much but noticing it for the last couple of days.

Other than that I haven't seen anything bothering me.

How would you compare this phone overall with the Sony? These are two phones that I am really interested in.

Both are good, OP6 is cheaper and better screen but XZ2 has better speakers, camera, wireless charging. Software wise both are great and snappy so either phone it's great probably XZ2 has much better/frequent monthly security updates. OP6 also has advantage in terms of storage 256GB vs only 64GB on XZ2 (yeah it has SD card but never a fan of SD cards).

Overall both are fine depends on what you want.

You think the Sony has the better camera? That’s important to me. I grabbed a brand new XZ2 on Swappa for $540. So it’s actually cheaper. But I also have an OP6 coming so I guess I’ll just have to see for myself. Thanks for the input!

Yeah personally the difference between all the top cameras are very less. Still think Pixel 2 is the best camera and others are close. XZ2 I like the pictures much better than OP6 but different people have different tastes/opinions since difference between all these cameras are getting smaller. For example S9+ got great reviews for camera but after using I didn't feel it any spectacular. It was good but not the best.

Let us know how you like the OnePlus 6 and how the cameras compare!

Now that we know what the one plus 6 will be and how much it'll cost, what do you guys think about it?

Personally, I liked everything other than no wireless charging (probably saving for 6T) and also no midnight color option for 256 GB. Also, little disappointed on still one down firing speaker, they could have used the top earpiece for stereo speaker set up like many phones now.

Was thinking of going for the 8/256 model but I do like the midnight color do might have to settle with 8/128 GB model.

My first impressions:

Very impressed with the fluid experience the S9+ is soooo laggy in comparison lol

Camera is worse of course than S9+ but a little worse than expected :( can't get the same quality that some reviewers posted

Speaker was also expected to be worse but didn't expect to be the worst speaker I've had in a smartphone, sad but not deal breaker

I was expecting to be disappointed by the screen and it does not look as sharp indeed as the S9+ but looking at it from 12 inches or more is actually better than I expected, I'm glad I'm not that disappointed in this area

Also some reviewers were saying the navigation gestures were okay but not good enough I am LOVING them so far, they're far more responsive than any other third party gestures app

Also about the cases I was expecting to like the nylon one and was expecting the included one to be trash but I actually love the included one, it's really slim and light, grippy, has raised bezels and air bags on the corners, the material seems nicer than other $1 silicone cases from aliexpres. The nylon one is a little too bulky and won't work with the magnetic car phone holder so I'm probably gonna list it on eBay or use it only on they when I need a lot of drop protection. I wished I would have gone with the karbon bumper when I had the 10% and free shipping but the stock is good enough for now

Oh also disappointed with the official car "dash" charger since it is actually 5 V, 3.5 A so not as fast as the wall charger but meh, almost there
