In Android calculator there was some big issue for example

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this from the Android Apps forum to the General Help forum, since the former is intended for developers to promote their apps.

It's using using the proper order of operations. If you don't add your own parentheses, it will group multiplied factors together. So the equation you typed is actually being figured out like this: (111*40*25)+123+(1*50*400), or 111000+123+20000=131123 (which is what the calculator app gives you).

Yes indeed, if I just type in the numbers as you did, I get 131,123.
If I do it long hand , I come up with 131,246.
Here's a chance for the mathematics people to tell us how this works..

Bodmas, it’s the order of operations
PEMDAS in the U.S.

In cases where there is multiplication and division, or addition and subtraction operations next to each other, you treat each pair of operations as equal and work left to right regardless of which function is first.

3*4/2=6
4/2*3=6

In the original equation, there were no parenthesis given, so the order of operations gives you the breakdown as B. Diddy shows above. If parenthesis were used, then the order of operations could've dictated a different result based on where they were. Your calculator should've worked it out correctly. If you need to be able to use parenthesis and your stock calculator doesn't have them, then there are third party calculators you can get.

If your calculator app does not initially show the parens and other operations, check to see if there is a sliding tray to show more keys. The calc on my LG V30 uses a blue sliding tray from the right side.

Yep -- in the stock Calculator app from Google, the parentheses are in the slide-in tray from the right.

In simple calculator and google calculator there was no issue related on without using paran n this issue comes in mobile calculator

What answer did your calculator give?
The simple, but wrong, result of a pure left to right would be 2222480000.

What exactly is the issue? Is your calculator app showing the total to be what I mentioned in my previous post? If so, then it's working normally.

Yes its showing 131123 but its wrong actual results is something else.....right result shows on normal calculator or google calculator

What result are you getting in other calculators/manually that you think is right?

Wait. I think I finally understood why he's getting a different answer.

HE'S USING A SIMPLE CALCULATOR. You know those cheap ones that when you press 2+2+, the last + acts like an equal sign?

Like the purple one in this picture:

In that calculator, entering 2+2x3 for example would give you 12, because it reads it as 2+2=4, then 4x3=12. Because pressing the 'x' sign also acts as pressing =. However, the scientific calcultor beside it would see it as a full string, thus giving the correct answer for a string of operations which is 8.

However, the calculator on the phone acts like the scientific calculators which allow you to enter a string of actions before computing.

I'm sure you are correct, but even a "simple calculator" should follow the most basic rules of arithmetic - specifically, order of operations.

That calculator should be thrown in the trash forthwith.
