In need of help majorly..HTC Rezound possibly bricked

Good. Put it into the other phone and get the other PH98IMG file off the card. You can put Nils ROM on there for later if you like. Can you get the phone to stay in Hboot or Fastboot?

Start downloading the RUU file from the instructions I posted..I found that the #3 link to RUU was the fastest. Also, do you still have the HTC unlock code and Android SDK tools in the folders you made when you unlocked and rooted to begin with?

The key is if the phone will stay in Hboot or Fastboot. It will have to be in Fastboot to push the nessecary files to the phone. Like I said, put the SD in the other phone and get any other ROMs except the one you're going to flash later (if you want, you could also just stick with the stock RUU if you like) and get rid of any other PH98IMG's off the card. You're going to download the RUU, put it on the card, relock the phone using the code HTC gave you and by using Fastboot, then flash the RUU twice. Now flashing the RUU will get rid of your Amon-Ra recovery so after you flash the RUU twice you'll put Amon-Ra back on the phone, you can then flash the ROM of your choice.

Thats an overview...the instructions from Team BAMF are very much more in depth.

As I said earlier, it takes about an hour from start to finish and it takes some time to download the RUU, its like 650megs or something.

And yes I can get into fastboot and hboot..

Cool...so get the PH98IMG off the card, download the RUU and rename it PH98IMG.zip and put it on there...re-insert into your Rezound and go to step Installation Part 1, step 4. Follow on from there you should be good to go.

Oh I thought you said it was still on there from tryingto install a ROM. Disregard then. But you still need to rename the RUU to PH98IMG.zip

I got up to step 10 in part 1 of the installation process...and now its on the HTC screen for a few minutes now?...do i have to battery pull and flash again?..

Didn't mean to abandon...fell asleep watching TV and had an early flight this morning...How'd you make out?

On behalf of less sophisticated users, I would like to say how grateful I am that there are people like Wanda who will take time out to help a stranger... Thanks

I have another issue..I go to try and reroot my phone right im at the amon ra recovery renaming file part..i get this error message in command prompt:

C:\Android>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (7056 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.442s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: image error! (BootMagic check fail))
finished. total time: 1.759s

Any idea what that means?...thanks

There are 3 possibilities

1) You didn't unlock bootloader. Did you do the HTCdev.com unlock before trying to install RA?
2) you didn't extract the recovery image from the zip file
3) The download was corrupt

I'm guessing its #2. As I recall in the instructions it didn't specifically say to extract the recovery.img file from the amonra zip file.

Almost made the same mistake myself.

Yeah, after thought I should have made it number 1 since I have seen a few people with the same error and same resolution "un zip it"
