Inconsistent battery life

I'm getting tired of how inconsistent battery life on this phone is. And I'm not sure if it's a couple apps that are having issues or something with the software. See examples.
Only 50 min of screen time, little bit of Pandora, and I played one move of words with friends and apparently the app wants to stay awake or something in the background for a couple hours when I'm not using it. It's crap like this on Android that pisses me off. I use my phone for a bit in the morning, then in my pocket for a few hours, check it, and it's dropped 20% just idling.
This isn't the only phone that I have these issues with. But this has been the worst in a while.

Mostly a rant but wondering also if anyone else having this issue. With these apps, with this phone, with another phone, with other apps?

Here's mine for today. I really want to blame Facebook for the dip in battery life I've seen recently, only because I didn't install it for a cpl weeks after I got my OP3. 9% for Words seems like a lot. 1471019820250.jpg

I haven't really paid close attention on the consistency of the battery. I always leave for work before 8am and have never had less than 30% remaining when I get home at 5:30-6pm. Sometimes it's nearly 50% but I figure some extra screen time or streaming music or GPS might account for the variance. I just haven't been too worried because a little bit of charging through dinner time tops me up with more than enough to get through the evening.

I don't use the Facebook app anymore specifically for that reason. Kill battery no matter what. The words app is just obnoxious. I've never had an issue with that draining on other phones. So not sure if it's the app or the phone. But I'm thinking the phone because I've had other apps just randomly drain the battery.

If you have misbehaving apps check into Greenify, it forces apps to hibernate when not in use. You choose which ones it explicitly affects.

I've used that before, haven't had great luck with it. However, part of my point is that should not be necessary. That's not very consumer friendly to have rogue apps randomly sucking your battery. Especially for those who don't know why or how to fix it. I think it's ridiculous.

This is useful info. Battery life on the OPO is woeful (despite a replacement battery six months ago) and that (plus screen brightness) have deterred me upgrading.

Honestly, it's just inconsistency that's my biggest issue. It really happens with most Android phones that I've used. There's days where this thing is great on batter too. Here's some for example.
