Incredible Questions

I made the move back to Android this morning. I have never had an HTC phone before so I'm on the learning curve right now. A couple of issues I have right now are:
-The phone is rooted and I'm not sure how the individual did it. Is there anything I should be concerned about here?
-I factory wiped the phone 3 times but his contacts, email accounts, Facebook account, etc were all still there. I have had to manually delete all these as I find them. Why didn't the wipe work?

Try booting into HBOOT by turning off turning off the phone and starting it by holding down the power and the down volume at the same time. In HBOOT there is a factory reset. that should clear data and cache and when the phone reboots it should take you into the main login screen.

Do not do the S-ON step. It will make it easier to re-root if you like. This will take you back to stock. From there you can root by going to unrevoked if you like.

Would there be any benefit to unrooting and then rerooting? I do not mind it being rooted (my Droid X was). Maybe Im just paranoid that he didnt root it correctly. LOL. Is there a "wrong" way to root the Incredible?

Not really. He most likely used Unrevoked so there would be no issue with that.

If you want to start fresh then I would try the latest Skyraider if you like HTC's Sense, Or CM7 if you don't. Both are great and very stable ROM's.

Look in the ROM's and Hack's sub forum here for how to flash ROM's and what to pay attention to when flashing ROM's as well as lot's of great discussion about the different ROM's.

I'll stand behind what Pvillew says. Skyraider is probably the best Sense rom, and CyanogenMod7 is the best AOSP rom. You can't go wrong with either one. I have used both and personally prefer CM7.

Thank you both and I will check those out. I still am going to factory wipe it to make sure everything is clean. I am still finding a few things here with the other owners info. When I had my X I ran apex so I am familiar with flashing roms but not a pro by any means. Wow so glad to be back on Android.

Ok went into HBOOT tried factory reset. Went to clockwork and I chose the reset option there also but when I chose it the screen goes blank. Nothing on screen but backlights are on. I hit the power button and clockwork comes back up. The last line says e: invalid command argument. What am I missing?

In clockwork you "select" with the Trackpad button, not the Power button. In Clockwork the Power is a "Back" button.

That may be why. LOL. I got it now. It erased everything but my contacts. Oh well I feel better about it now bc at the VZW store I just added my information. Now I had to totally setup the phone like I took it out of the box. Thank you for your help to both of you....now to the root/rom section
