Infinity Display: HD+, FHD+ or WQHD+

Like I said I hate how I baby my toys sometimes to only turn around and sell it not knowing it feels or in this case fully taking advantage of it.

Has there been any actual tests done to see how much battery FHD saves? Most anecdotal feedback seems to be that any differences are minor but there surely must have been a reason why Samsung set the default to FHD+?

switched it to WQHD+ to try out my Gear VR and never switched back. I have no battery issues so I will just let it shine!

What RESOLUTION do you have your Infinity Display at, what's your reasoning for it?

I'm at WQHD+, why?

I spent this much on my S8 & S8+ that I want to take advantage of it. Battery life isn't a concern especially with Fast Charging.

Default. FHD.

QHD. Text looks sharper to me. So does video and photo. Difference in battery seems nil. I paid for a flagship phone with QHD display. So that's what I want to see.

I did a comparison last night (again) between a 720p and 1440p display. To be honest, I didn't noticed a massive difference but there are small things that stood out.

The first was text. It looks a lot smoother and almost feels easier to read. Video definitely seems clearer on the higher rez display. Overall, if I just had a quick glance at both screens, I probably wouldn't notice

But besides that, games default to their native res, YouTube usually runs at 720p or sometimes 1080p , and running antutu with different resolutions plus available performance settings gave me the same score, each and every time.
So if one doesn't see the difference, then use fhd yes, but I can see the difference so have it maxed out.

Well QHD (Quad HD) is 4x the resolution of HD (720p) and has a resolution of 2560 x 1440.

But since the Galaxy S8 has a slightly higher resolution than that, they advertise QHD+ or some say 'WQHD' which is essentially 'wide' QHD. This is to show it's got a abnormal aspect radio that's wider than the traditional 16:9 that we are used to.

Performance mode in WQHD at all times. Amazing battery life and no issues, so why lower my standards.

I use WQHD as well. Like OP said, I paid top dollar for this phone so I am going to have my settings decked out. I easily get a full day out of this phone on a normal day and even if I do have to charge it part way through the day, I don't mind. If I'm at my desk at work, what's the difference if it's charging or in my pocket? With that said, I don't think my eyes can honestly distinguish FHD from WQHD in most cases but it's not worth 10 minutes of extra battery life to have it on the lower setting IMO.

Left my Galaxy S8 at FHD. 1. I'd much rather save some battery power. 2. I'm not a gamer, have never been, nor will I ever be a gamer. 3. My naked eyes honestly couldn't tell the difference, so again, for me, the real savings is true battery power no matter how hard or easy i push my phone. At FHD for me, the Super AMOLED screen compared to all of my older Android phones looks beautiful still, and everything looks like it's literally been painted on the screen which i love!

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing myself. haha That particular acronym is a weird one, even in the tech world!

;That's usually how i feel. I doubt my eyes could tell a significant amount of a different on the quad HD Resolution setting. I just detuned the resolution and i'm more than happy with everything else. My purchasing a $760 phone doesn't matter because it does everything great. The screen is still beautiful no matter what!

I run at WQHD+ didn't notice much battery difference when I ran it lower, plus I feel like it looks sharper, not sure if I can really see a difference or if it is just a placebo effect. LOL

I was using FHD all along and was happy with it! I recently decided i might as well go with WQHD and if it was to drain the battery i can always enable FHD again! To me the difference is negligible but WQHD is better but after an hour or less use you forget about it! In other words if you were to do a blind test i reckon most people would not be able to identify FHD - WQHD! None the less i have now stuck with WQHD simply because iam not noticing any difference in battery drain!
