Infuse not updating

I received one update before I rooted and nothing afterwards, plus I wouldn't be so worried about getting these updates since it's not any big fixes. Most people are still waiting on gingerbread to come out, just keep your fingers crossed that it'll be soon.

Well, not much of an update, but I spoke with a fairly bull-headed person from AT&T on Friday night who told me that there were no updates for my device, and if there were updates, they should come from Samsung directly. Of course, Samsung has told me twice that all updates are delivered by the carrier via OTA. After 30 minutes of tense conversation, the AT&T person agreed that she would initiate a manual OTA for my phone then call me after she has record that it has been sent. She said that I would receive a notification on my phone, but it might take a few hours. Well, it's Monday morning and I've seen nothing on my phone, nor have I heard from AT&T since Friday night.

It is absolutely amazing that of the 5 AT&T people I have worked with, not a single one of them understands anything about the Infuse (and its updates) or how these updates are normally delivered to Android phones.

That's discouraging. I like AT&T. Have never had a problem with the services they provide. But to hear things like this....not good. Makes you think that rooting is definitely the way to go.

I also like AT&T. I know everyone loves to bash them, but I really don't have a good reason to (besides this I suppose). My coverage and data speeds have always lived up or exceeded my expectations, and I do like the packaging of everything into one account. It's now Monday night, and no call back yet to see if I received the OTA. If I don't get a call back some time tomorrow, I suppose I'll give them a shout back.

I'm not too concerned with these specific updates, but if I'm not getting these, what are the chances of me getting the Gingerbread one when it hits? I'd say fairly low, especially considering the answers (or lack thereof) that I've received from AT&T on the matter. I'm hounding them on this issue and will post the resolution, if there is one, for the benefit of all of us unlucky schmucks who are experiencing it.

OK, I'm on the phone with some uber-tier person at AT&T right now, and I have my final answer. Ready for it? There is no E3 or H1 update for the Infuse. There are no updates for the Infuse besides it going from Android 2.1 to 2.2.1. This person told me that AT&T does not police all of the blogs and forums out there and that "people can write whatever they want". Sure. I completely understand that there are hundreds of people out there writing that they have these updates when they don't exist. So there you have it. Despite what everyone out there is saying, including Samsung, there are no updates to be had.

W... T... F???

You should have told him, in your best Billy Madison voice "Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to that"

I pulled this from an AT&T internal document that I cannot post in it's entirety:

AT&T said:
Date Published: September 14, 2011
Manufacturer(s): Samsung
Model(s): Infuse 4G (i997)
Issue Type: Software Update Available MR1

Issue Summary

Effective September 14, 2011, a new Maintenance Release is available to customers using the Samsung Infuse 4G (i997). The update includes improvements for voice call connectivity, stability, and GPS.

It also refers to the software version being 'KH1' after the update. Hopefully this helps a bit but I'm having the same problem with not receiving the update.

That is interesting goelz83. AT&T has closed my case and it's clear they want nothing to do with it. I simply cannot fathom how everyone except AT&T knows about these updates. If you have a different outcome than I, would you mind posting it?
