Instagram Viewing

Hi guys! Was there a change or update with the Instagram app? Everytime I'm on someone's page and looking through their pictures it resets?

For example, I'll click on a picture, then when I press the back button (bottom of phone) it goes all the way back to the top! It basically doesn't let me stay where I left off when viewing the photos...

Its super annoying and inconvenient, I tried to search the internet but couldn't find a fix. Any help appreciated, thanks!

Nope, just tried on an S20 and Note 20 and they both have the standard behavior (i.e. pick up where you left off). Have you tried clearing the app's cache/data?

Anyone know whats going on? I cleared the cache, i cleared the data, and i even deleted the app and reinstalled it again. It's still doing the same thing? Its never done this before

I thought i was the only one. Mine is doing the same thing... maybe its the app??? I'm not sure but I hope they fix soon

I just noticed mine started doing this too. Annoying. Like it does not happen when I am looking at specific things on the Search feed and then go back to the Search page it stays where I was. It only happens when I am looking at a specific users pictures only. I open 1 of their pictures and then go back to all of their pictures it snaps back up to the top of their pictures instead of the picture I was just looking at.

Maybe it's a phone-specific issue? I've tried (again) on a Note 20 and S20 and both behave normally. For reference, the app version I have is 155.0.0.37.107

On my Note 10 plus it does this but in my Note 20 Ultra it functions like it should.

There ya go! Device-specific! Not a lot of comfort, but at least it's something to include in the reports.

It seems so, but again, if you report the bug, it might be squashed soon. The Instagram app does update quite frequently.

Also, just to be sure, try setting up the Instagram app to NOT save battery (so that the phone doesn't kill the process in the background... that MIGHT be causing it to jump to the top if it reloads the activity when you go back instead of keeping it cached).

Go settings in the search bar type optimized battery usage tap> at very top choose all and scroll down to Instagram and toggle off

just tried toggle off to save battery for instagram to see if it would fix the issue. still nothing, I give up. it sucks not winning

Are you on a Note 10? Or Note 20? If the latter, then the problem might be Boogle Gestures... I'm using the olden ways (and the way it should have stayed haha) with 'buttons' at the bottom (swipe up from the button as I'm hiding them, but still work if I show the button navigation bar). I have not tried Google Gestures.
