Hi,

I bought the evo 3D yesterday and I'm new to android and rooting.
I want to know if I should root the phone or wait for the android 4.0 update htc will release the next months?

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply.
I have a linux server so I know a little bit about root etc.
After reading the article, must I check which ROM I use to prevent failures in the upcoming 4.0 update?
Like the CleanROM only adds features to the system and not to the gui.
Can ROMs like SenselessROM be critical?

Other than the HTC bootloader unlocking step, everything else is reversible. When the official HTC ICS update comes through all you would need to do is revert back to stock and take the update. Or you could wait a few hours for the developers to release a stock rooted ROM of the ICS update. Custom ROMs will start dropping 12-24 hours after the official update.
Long story short, You can always get the updates, you just won't be getting them from Sprint anymore.

Why not root and load a 4.0 ROM today? Most are not fully functional at this point, but I assure you the devs will have a fully functional ICS ROM way before HTC and Sprint release it. Most of the 2.3 ROMs are way better than stock anyway, and support great features like over clocking, HW UI acceleration, wifi tethering, etc... No reason, in my eyes, to stay stock.

+1 I really dont see why you wouldn't want to root your phone. To me its a win win situation and the only way to actually use the full potential of your evo. Trust me you wont regret it just do some research on here or xda.
