installation error 4.0.4

hi i'm a noob to this so please bare with me

i have a verizon galaxy nexus with bootloader unlocked and rooted only
no custom roms or whatever else is out there installed

i'm having trouble updating to 4.0.4 via ota
it would start installing and crash in the middle and then reboot itself

i thought before that bootloader unlocked and rooted wouldn't cause a problem updating the OS as long as a custom rom weren't installed

any solutions?

because i'm a noob, i don't know what exactly toolkit, clockworkmod, or whatever are nor how to install them

you have to flash the stock recovery to get the OTA to install. search for my posts and you will find instructions on how to do this given by defmouse.

He just needs to unroot since he's still stock.
