Installing larger Micro SD card in Note 4

I want to upgrade my 64 gig Micro SD to a new 256 gig card. I purchased a Samsung 256 gig card. I have copied my current 64 gig card onto a portable hard drive. I then tried copying the files back to the new SD card. The phone did not see all the files. I then put the original 64 gig card into a SD adapter and the new 256 gig card into another adapter and copied the files from the smaller one to the larger one. I can see the files on the new card with my PC. When I installed the new 256 gig back into my phone, the files are not recognized on my note 4. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! What files are not being seen? Documents and media files (photos, music, videos) should be visible. But if you copied app data, that might not necessarily be seen by the apps installed on the phone, since they might have a symlink associated only with the old card.
