Everybody gets that warning. Just ignore it as you go through the process it should allow you to keep your current plan.

thanks for the quick reply.

just so i have this correct, i can use the sim in my current phone?
just make sure to take out sim in new phone before that phone ever gets turned on, and put old sim in, then turn it on, and DO NOT DO ANYTHING FURTHER TO ACTIVATE (no web, etc, but i think i will have to do #228)?

Yea as long as both phones take the same sim card size you should be good. Only thing different I would do is destroy the sim as soon as you remove it from the new device.

my 2 sisters have 2 Iphones without sims. how would I do the upgrade without a sim?

You would need a spare 4g phone and ask Verizon for SIM cards

No need to do #228. The SIM will handle the activation on its own.

I have ordered a sim card from Verizon and Galaxy S5 from Best Buy.
I have 2 questions.
I am upgrading from a 3g phone no sim to the Galaxy S5 4g will the 3g to 4g upgrade lose my
unlimited data plan, or will the new phone just stay 3g?

If everything goes ok and I keep my unlimited data what happens if a few months from now
I press #228 would I lose my unlimited plan at that time?

Since your new phone is a 4g lte capable you will get 4g lte.

Why would you ever press #228 in this instance?

Some of us are hoping you can get simcards from verizon and just plug them in w/o going through another 4G phone.

Is it #228 or *228? I may be wrong but I believe that it's only for 3G phones and doesn't apply to 4g lte phones.

A statement and a question. I just visited my Verizon company store and was told that with an upgrade I'd loose my UDP but would be replaced with a 6GB plan for the same price of the UDP. Question, does anyone know if the SIM card in my Droid Razr Max is the same size as what the Samsung S5 takes? Thanks.

I just used this method a few days ago to get the HTC one M7 version since it was .01 cent came to like 13 bucks after tax, still waiting for phone but atm i still show unlm data on account, I had a 4glte droid bionic previously before this so hopefully everything goes smoothly.

Here's my story...
1. Read every post on this thread
2. Ordered my phone on 5/3 (VZ account stayed at Unlimited data, contract end date extended to 5/3/16)
3. Received phone on 5/9 (VZ account still at Unlimited data)
4. Activated phone on 5/9 (VZ updated my phone to the S5, still at Unlimited data and contract end date of 5/3/16)

So I am a happy camper, but here is my dilemma. The phone dropped in price $100 from when I ordered a few days ago. I called and tried to get the Low Price Guarantee though their policy does not apply to phones. My thought is taking the phone into the store and trying to get them to just refund me the difference, and if not, just return it (wiped and no sim card) and go through the process again.....ultimately risking having to do the process again without this loophole closing. I'm tempted to just make the threat of return in the store but not actually go through with it. Any thoughts? I feel like karma will bite me in the *** if I get greedy.

so here is a story for the ages. I am looking at doing this, but also thinking I am going to go to more everything as I have 3 unlimited lines, but need to change a regular phone to a smartphone, and I can't change this line over and would have to get a whole additional data plan.

So I go to the vzw store, which I have vowed I would never do, but it is in a tax free state, and I live in a taxable state, but on the border, so if you upgrade, you pay no tax vs. full tax if I do this online or via CS.

I go thru a few scenarios, and decide I don't want to do this, I am going to keep my unlimited and try to do the BB upgrade.

So I get home, after waiting 90 minutes to speak to a rep in the store, who knew absolutely nothing, and confirmed why I should never go there, login to bb and , bang, the friggin rep changed my plan. I am not on unlimited anymore, I am on a more everything! WTF.

I call vzw immediately, and the CS rep can't put me back on unlimited immediately, there are no codes for this she can use. She must send an email explaining what happened to her supervisor, who has to allow this to happen. She says there is no reason that it shouldn't happen, but it will take a day or 3 till that happens. But no guarantees. In the meantime, I am frozen out, I can't do the BB upgrade.
