[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

That's. What. This. Whole. Thread. Is. About.

This thread isn't about getting a 'upgrade' on a BB screw up leaving you month to month and able to get another upgrade

true, i don't know what the screw up was that left him with an upgrade so he should probably watch it for at least another billing cycle.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

So I have a family plan and have all five lines filled. Two are basic lines with upgrades available, two are UDP with one upgrade available (my line) and the last line is a tiered data plan without an upgrade available. I was given advise from the very helpful JulesJam to upgrade one of the basic lines, select a new tiered data plan. Then after that I could transfer my UDP to that new tiered line without issues.

Well, in my particular situation I tested this method on the tiered data line already existing. I transferred my UDP to that line but it will only gives me the option to use the Edge option to pay for the phone which is full price.

Wouldn’t I run into the same issue with the new tiered data line?

This is why I would think that by transferring my UDP line to the basic line first, then using that basic lines upgrade. Dunno….

4 UDPs on Family Plan in different parts of the country

OK I really hope I'm not as dumb as all the lazy people who ask the same questions over and over in this forum without bothering to read (i've been subscribed to daily updates since April and reading every day), but my family plan has a few complications I could use some help with. For background we're really not huge data users, but we would use slightly more than 2gb/person. We have 4 lines on a talk+text family plan all with UDP and this amazing $20 talk+text data discount per line (so to me its more about keeping the plan and cost than it is about the unlimited data). Going to a new plan would cost me $80/mo more just on that alone, plus losing the unlimited data.

The concern I have is that I'm on the east coast, my parents in the midwest, and my sister on the west coast. Over the months I've seen people report the dreaded "there is a problem with your order" message if the shipping address on the order didn't match the billing address on the account. I recently found somewhere in the account settings a place to set the address for each of the individual lines on the family plan and I've updated them accordingly. However with this complication of potentially needing to place all the orders thru the primary line transfer process on BB, am I going to run into problems trying to ship the phones to other parts of the country? Should I try to order them thru the individual secondary lines first without doing the "transfer" to the primary line or is that already going to result in the "problem with your order" message no matter what? Worst case I could ship them all to me and reship across the country but obviously I'd like to avoid that.

Thanks advance for any experts in similar family plan situations!

you don't have to keep the tiered data plan unless you want to as long as you do it before 8/25/14. After 8/24/14 you may or may not be able to drop the tiered data plan; we will have to wait and see.

You must be doing something wrong. Post screen shots of the process blacking out your personal issues and we can walk you through it. I just tested it out in my account and it works fine. Not sure what you are doing wrong.

That is simply not possible. You cannot transfer an upgrade to a line that is currently eligible for its own upgrade. The system won't allow you to so you don't have that option.

Re: 4 UDPs on Family Plan in different parts of the country

Has anyone been able to confirm if this works with Amazon or not. Stupid Verizon seems to have put a stop on shipping the newer phones from BB(G3)!

That depends on BB's policy about shipping phones. If they have any issue I would think it would be with shipping to an address that is different from the credit card billing address.

For some reason, the upgrade got transferred to the line to the right of the tiered data line you intended. Do you see where it says "upgrade transferred from undo"? that is the line that you transferred the upgrade to.

So is it safe to say that once I upgrade the basic line that we have spoken about previously, that line will then show up when I click “transfer upgrade” from my line? I then simply do the same steps as the above images show. I then activate the phone on the transferred line, then switch phones back?…

yes, because once you have used the upgrade that is currently on that line and activated the phone you purchased with it to get the pending activation off of the line, it will be available to receive transferred upgrades.

yes.

Thanks for all the help. So any idea how long I might have to wait to transfer after I upgrade the basic line?

Hello all.

I currently have a S3 with UDP and with a micro SIM.

Unfortunately bb won't let me order new devices such as the G3. Can I order from another site and switch the SIM

people on slick deals report this works with amazon and costco, too, but you don't have the option to keep existing plan, you have to select the 2GB plan.

you will keep your udp as long as you discard the sim the phone ships with and do not turn on the phone until you have replaced it with your old sim. However, your customer agreement will show a 2GB plan. So far that hasn't been a problem.

Also, amazon can charge a $400 secondary etf if you violate their terms for up to 181 days. So far no one is reporting that has happened but no one is at 181 days yet either.

I wanted to confirm this image here just to make sure it actually goes on the new tiered data line and not the UDP transfer line.

yes of course, if it didn't the transfer upgrade method would not work to preserve udp. Also, it is showing you the line you transferred the upgrade to will have the $30 tiered data plan.
