Not sure what else you need to pull the trigger. People are doing the Transfer Upgrade from UDP to another line with success.

I know BB mthod works. The poster I replied tk didn't use bbb mthod. He transfered upgrade in vzw and bought phone from vzw. No BB invved

Because he shouldn't have done that. People on the slickdeals thread have reported losing unlimited when doing the Best Buy method through Verizon. This method is to be done though some 3rd party retailers.

Thanks so I will avoid the verizon site. I'll call bb today to see if my order went through if not I'll try again. But I remember in the past they would ask if you want to keep your existing plan and the didn't do that this time. Maybe be cause I'm still under contract?

I did the bb method yesterday and was able to keep unlimited by having S6 shipped to home. The bb site was having difficulty yesterday and it took me several hours to get the order to go through and when it finally did I was near panic fearing I may have several phones being shipped! Turned out all was well and only one order was actually processed and phone arrives on Monday. Just discovered the sim needs to be cut moving from S4 to S6 but that shouldn't be a problem, sim cutter arrives Tues. I used the unlimited line for the upgrade and was able to check the box "keep existing plan" and the line shows it is on contract until 11/13/17. My recommendation with bb site is just keeping trying, wipe cache from computer and use explorer browser rather than chrome, for some reason chrome would not go through. I don't know why chrome has trouble but it isn't the first time it has happened on the bb site when I have tried to order on line.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was getting ready to place an order on my UDP line. Knowing that it eventually goes through helps in case I run into difficulty.

See posts 11062 and 11063. I asked my question pointedly to get those answers from the experts in this thread. They will clarify for you the difference between the Best Buy method and Verizon.

There are way too many people in here confusing the two methods and subsequently asking questions, or even worse giving incorrect advice, that spreads the confusion.

If you transfer an upgrade using Verizon is safe, for the moment at least.

I don't understand what did I do wrong? It took me a few tries but it went through on BB site, and it sounds like from what read on Reddit, and here that option still works. I did check out Slickdeals threads but there were so many it was hard to follow. I did see where some people where having issues on it, but from Reddit, and here it sounds like it works. So I'm not sure what I did wrong. Can you please let me know? I can always send the phone back and take the $20 hit, but I shouldn't lose my UDP, should I, if I send it back?

Has anyone ever had a problem with the BB/UDP trick?

IE, ordering a phone online through Best Buy for their UDP line, and just making sure to swap out the old sim card in their current phone to the new one before activating it? Has anyone ever heard of someone still winding up getting screwed and losing their UDP as a result? I ask because I'm probably just going to order one of the 1$ phones on Best Buy today, and just ditch the Sim card that comes with it, and just then sell it and use the money to get myself a phone not currently available at BB, ie the Verizon Note 4.

If you send it back, you won't lose UDP.

I was about to do the BB method then I saw this post. You previously posted that you saw your contract date change on your verizon account. Please explain what happened??? Thank you

The only time I have heard of bad news is all user error. Activating with the new SIM, calling Verizon with a pending activation on the account, trying to exchange, etc...

You didn't do anything wrong. There are some people in this thread that are confusing some methods. If you did either of the following, you are fine:

1) Best Buy Method - using the upgrade directly on the unlimited line. This should be done only through some 3rd party retailers. If you have a single line plan, this is your only option.

2) Transferring upgrade - transferring an upgrade from an unlimited to either a tiered or basic line. This works through Best Buy and Verizon.

There are other methods that are basically variations of these 2. For the most part, people should stick to one of them.

There is no box. Just go through with it. You'll see it on the confirmation page after ordering.

Just to confirm that I have received my phone (upgraded and ordered on the UDP, threw away the SIM card and inserted it into original sim). I'm using my old phone and I just switched to the G4I just checked my devices from Verizon's website and it says end date for my contract is 12/02/2015 I'm feeling slightly alarmed? 24 hours wait time?
It says I still have an upgrade and that I still have unlimited!

Hi guys

I just wanted to share what I did. Don't know if it will stick.

I transferred the upgrade form L1 upd to L2 tdp via Verizon online and chose in store pick up a local vz corporate store to pick up new phone.

Got a confirmation screen that said it worked, but didn't get a email confirmation saying to pickup.

Went to store with printed confirmation and it wasn't in the system. They said they could do it there and I turned down a new shared plan offer and yes I know I have to pay 20 extra for udp and I'm ok with that, just do not change my udp line at all.

New phone activated at the store and had a email from Verizon before leaving the store confirming the change and udp line now shows under contract until 11/14/2017 hope this sticks and good luck to everyone else!

I thought BB method was a 3rd party. I only had one line, with UDP, with upgrade. The BB worked and my contract got updated. So should I send it back?

Because of what dusoccer10 said. Based on dusoccer10 respond so I didn't know if Best Buy was a third party or not. I thought it was. I'm just trying to make sure I didn't screw myself I use a lot of data uploading to Box for titanium backups.
