worked for me. upgraded to d.maxx and kept unlimited by ordering upgrade under wifes iphone, activating it, then deactivating it and using it on my line.
Shouldn't activate it on line 1, that is the line with the unlimited data. Should activate it on line 2 and then put old phone back on line 2 then put new phone on line 1. But I'm not sure about that device waiting to be activated on line 1 though. Seems like it should be ready to activate on line 2. Kimpat you transferred the upgrade from line 1 to line 2 right and then did the upgrade on line 2, selected your phone, and a plan right? What do you mean "At the same time I ordered a S4 with 2g data". At the same time sounds like a separate parallel order. It should have been a stepwise procedure.
She is wrong, other people have been told this and it is wrong. I think that they just do know and they are not trying to confuse you.
Activate it on line one when you get it. After that you can do the phone transfers. The unlimited line will be under a new 2 year contract because that is where the upgrade came from but you will not lose your unlimited data.

To the bolded: Yes, this is what I did. But the new device is waiting to be activated on (line 1) the unlimited data line. Not the line the upgrade was transferred to, line 2.

When you got the confirmation did it show the upgrade as waiting to be activated under your account like kimpat is reporting. Seems like the activation would have been pending under your wife's line.
I was wrong before, got it backwards. No matter what it shows on the computer activate it to the limited line first (like 2). If you activate it straight to your unlimited line you will lose it.

That's okay, it just shows you used up the upgrade on your xxx-xxx-2529 line and you can't use it again. Just activate it on your line 2 first, take it off by putting old phone back on line 2 and then activate new phone on line 1. Should be fine.
I'm lost here. I've got four phones on a family plan: one smartphone and three dumb ones. I want to upgrade my smartphone (up for an upgrade) and keep unlimited data. Of the three dummies, two are also up for upgrades, but, at the moment, don't care to have smartphones. Any advice? Pretty please.
Use the dumb phone with an upgrade to get a new smartphone. Activate it, then put the dumb phone back on it freeing up the new smartphone then put that on your unlimited line.

Wouldn't activating a second smartphone automatically cause the switch to shared and limited data? How slowly should this process take place so not to bring upon the Verizon's wrath? I mean, between steps? Sorry for not being articulate.

Alright, I've held out the longest for the Note 3 to release on Verizon and the time has finally come (still using the pos ancient first 4g lte Thunderbolt, ). I am planning to upgrade one of the dumb lines on our family plan and just wanted to know, would I be charged an early/cancellation fee after I free up the Note 3 and reactivating back the dumb phone line?
