Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Please forgive me if this has been answered in the previous 48 pages... On my account, the primary line is NOT on a UDP, but my personal phone, which is a secondary number, still has UDP, and I'd like to keep it with this method. I understand that this method has to be done on the primary phone. My phone is eligible for an upgrade; the primary line is not.

Given all that, can I transfer the upgrade to the primary (non-UDP) line, order the phone as an upgrade for that line (keeping the non-UDP unchanged), but then when I receive it, put in the cut-down SIM from my current phone in to the new one -- and it will activate on my current line? If that is correct, am I correct in guessing that the primary line will show a 2-year contract extension with the same limited-data plan, but my secondary line will still be month-to-month UDP?

Thanks in advance for helping me wrap my brain around this!

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Houston, we have a problem.

I ordered last Friday through the HTC website, following all of the instructions... but BB called me today saying they need to cancel my order and for me to call to give them my SS# to verify I own the account. Guess I'll have to wait for this to cancel out... but wondering what the issue might have been. I'm *not* going to call them... saw too many issues when people did that.

Anyone else order through HTC for the $100 off without an issue? This really sucks because the price is back to $199 now on both HTC and Best Buy websites. :(

You need to use the method in the other thread that starts with [Instructions].

Once I take out the SIM from my old phone, will I still be able to sell it on ebay as an unlocked phone? Does the sim card have anything to do with the fact that you can still get a decent amount for an old(er) phone by selling it outright?

Just got email that phone shipped. Checked on Verizon and it shows my plan unchanged as unlimited, just have a new contract date til 2016. Still lists my old phone. Will see what happens when I use old sim to activate. Halfway there.

ETA this is for a secondary line not main line

So bad form to quote your own post... but I got a shipping notice from Best Buy an hour ago. Not sure what the voicemail today was about then from BB... but things are looking better. I'll have the phone tomorrow, and got my SIM cutter from Amazon tonight.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I have a question for those of you that have ordered from BB in the last couple of weeks..........How long between your order date and shipping date? BB estimates my s5 order will not arrive until AT LEAST 6/23 and as late as 7/1. That seems.....how shall is phrase this..."not in keeping with modern shipping standards". Since this is not the Nov-December time frame, I can't see that being a real estimate.......I don't see how this doesn't arrive by Friday if I order today. Anyway, just curious as to recent experiences.......so I can prepare myself. Thanks!

Interesting, thanks for the reply. I wonder what they originally estimated for you. My order confirmation email gives me the estimated delivery date.

Don't be too concerned about those estimated lead times when using the FREE standard shipping option. I just ordered my 2nd phone last Friday (late afternoon), using the free standard shipping. I just got the shipping confirmation yesterday afternoon. On my 1st phone order, I placed it around 2-3 weeks ago. It was placed on Tuesday late afternoon, I got the delivery confirmation late on the next day, and the phone arrived that Friday.

I find this situation to be the case in several different online ordering avenues that I encounter. I think it's just a leveraging technique that these places use to upsell these expedited services.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Can anyone tell me what the "billing password" refers to? Is it your Verizon password??

It's not the password that you use when you log in to your verizon site account. The billing password would have been an optional verification password that you would have set up to take the place of verizon asking you for your last 4 SS digits.

Re: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price.

Thanks. This is exactly right. It is different from the add a line plan. For those who don't want to pay the money to add a line or do not fully understand how to go that route this is an easier and more hassle free route. At least for the time being until they fix it. It's essentially getting your upgrade from Best Buy, select keep existing plan, ship home, use your current sim card in place of the one pre-installed in the new phone and it should be done. The rep even confirmed with me. Easy.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Ok so I activated this phone like about 15 hrs. ago and my contract date still has not been extended. Is that normal?

If you are looking at the My Verzion app on the phone itself, dont...log in to the website and check...

Its been almost a week since I did the move and the phone app still sez month-to-month, but the website was updated almost immediately...
