Any comparison of different insurance options out there? Thinking of buying S9 directly from Samsung but it appears you have to send it back first, then wait and wait... Did not have a good experience putting a claim for a camera in the past (Texas was only place that would service is). What would you recommend? Thanks!

What I just found out today is that Samsung will NOT let you purchase Premium Care for your S9 if you did not purchase it at check-out when pre-ordering or ordering the phone, and if it's not from Samsung.com directly. At least that's what the rep just told me on the phone. So basically I cannot get Premium Care from them at all because I didn't check that option at check-out when I bought the phone. That was definitely not clear to me when I ordered it. I then asked about their uBreakiFix partnership and if I could go have it inspected at a local store to be eligible for the coverage and she said no. So then I went to T-Mobile to try to get coverage from them and they want $15/month with a $175 deductible because I didn't buy the phone directly from them. I'm debating Square Trade which is cheaper, but I don't have any experience with them so plan to do research before buying from them. They have a 1 year plan for $89 and 2 years for $129. Covers accidents, cracked screens, spills, etc but NOT lost or stolen (which Samsung and T mobile do cover)...but T-mo's deductible is higher. I also looked at Geek Squad and they're cheaper but the deductible is $149 for the S9 and $199 for the S9+ since it's based on the value of the phone.

Aside from everything mentioned above. I've seen a few users mention that their credit cards offer cell phone insurance as well.

Not true. Samsung will let you purchase it afterwards. An app will take a picture of the phone working with a mirror both sides.

I have purchased Squaretrade for my last 3 phones. The other day is the 1st time that I have had filled a claim for a shattered back glass on my wife's GS8+.

The process was to find a local shop, pay for the repairs, then send in an itemized receipt,& Squaretrade reimbursed the full price, less the $99 deductible.

Don't forget the one hour a month one to one. If I had been a little smarter I would of had that scheduled on set up day. I know it would of saved some time for me coming from a LG

I'd love to know where you see that because I've spoken to 2 reps now who both have told me the same thing..."currently Premium Care is not available on the S9/S9+ if you did not purchase it directly from Samsung and choose the coverage at the time of purchase". They did say that it's not certain if in the future (near or far) they'll offer it, but right now they would not let me get coverage. If you spoke to a rep do you know their name/info by chance? Maybe I can reference that when I call them a third time :-/

Just spoke with a supervisor at Samsung Premium Care. S9 and S9+ are excluded from doing this. You'll notice that it actually states on the first page of enrollment that it only covers the S8s and Note 8s. If you enroll for an S9, it will technically let you (and they'll take your money) but you will not be covered on an S9 or S9+ for any claims under Premium Care. The phone is of course still covered under manufactures warranty, but that's it. They said they MAY allow S9s to be covered in the future, but that's TBD and no timetable.
