Name: Will Thomas

Previous Forum: worldofwarcraft.com/forums ....yeah thats right

Current/soon to be ex-phone: Dx (See Attached; story upon req.)

I am new to the smartphone industry and the Droid2 was my first phone when I quickly returned it for a DX. Initially I was quite pleased but I was quite naive back in those days (roughly 15 whole months ago). I am highly anticipating the GNex and I was timid at first with my AndroidCentral usage, but over the past couple of weeks, given the heightened tension, it has evolved into full blown addiction.

Additionally I believe that if there is a slightly less 'randomization' involved in the selection of these all important protective cases, may I present the attached photos of my current communication device as my defense. Please note that I do chose the phrase "communication device" with thought and reason as what has become of this machine can no longer be deemed a phone.

Either way, nice meeting you

Will Thomas

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

Greetings Programs!

My name is Rennat and I am hailing from PreCentral sense that wonderful morning on June 6th, 2009 at 5 am, and the first in line to obtain my original Palm Pre. Loved it to death. But sense then, crazy lunatic monsters has gobbled up the vision of webOS and mother (or should I say father) has left and is working his magic that I have come to know and love within Android's depths, Matais Duarte.

Sense my original acquisition of my Pre Minus all those years ago, I have owned an Evo 4G and currently a Palm Pixi+ on Verizon. I enjoyed my days after my final Pre broke and bought an Evo. It was a really unique phone with many capabilities. I liked Android but is just lacked any sort of polish in Froyo. It just wasn't... designed. Gingerbread and HoneyComb were rescue missions to bring Android that polish and turned out fairly well for their circumstances but just not there yet. With the release of Ice Cream Sandwich and the breaking of the webOS ecosystem, I was intrigued by the Galaxy Nexus. It was a complete re-thought OS with most importantly design, hardware optimization, innovation. Decision made.

Now any of those who have spent time over at PreCentral may know that I am a forum addict and love to help, troubleshoot, and find my way through problems others have. I have a 1300 posts over on PreCentral in the past few years and can not wait to contribute to my new residence here at Android Central.

Now if only Verizon would ever announce the launch day of their LTE Galaxy Nexus! :P
Oh, and you can of course find me on the Twitosphere under @Rennnat

I live in Boston. I plan to pick up the Galaxy Nexus on VZW as soon as it is released.

Here is the list of my previous phones. Way back when I used to own those Nokia candy bar phones for a while then I got the RAZR flip phone. My first smartphone was a VZW HTC Touch Pro - cool form factor, but the windows OS on that phone sucked. Next I got the BB Tour, which I loved. I used to go on to crackberry when I owned this phone. I bought the Droid X 15 months ago, which I also love. I'd keep it, but I want LTE and the Galaxy Nexus is the phone I have been waiting for since the summer.

I'll probably poke around these forums a lot while setup and get used to my phone then more periodically and as needed later.

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

I am in the Chicagoland area, and currently use a storm 2. I can not wait to rid my self of this POS BB. I was excited to get the storm but then a little disappointed after using it for a while. I now have my sights on the Nexus, but do not think I will get the let down I felt from the storm, My patience is growing thin but I can hold out just a touch longer. If I have to I will get a rezound or a razor with hopes the Nexus is released in the 30 day return period. I just really hate my current phone and am excited to move on to bigger better things.:D Go Cubs!

Howdy folks. My name is Doug. Captain DL, my alter ego, was born at a previous place of employment because I was able to find anything on the interwebs. I'm not much of a social being, as such I do alot of lurking here, but do speak up on occasion. Like the rest of the peeps here, I am waiting on the GNex to be released. I will be purchasing mine through my company VZW rep because the company will be allowing me to use an early upgrade credit so I can upgrade now instead of in March when I would be elidgble. I am currently rocking a Droid X and really have no issues with it, other than the fact that the developers never designed anything for the seperate GPU that was built into the device and the fact that it will be unlikely that it gets an OEM ICS update. I am the mobile device tech for a large law firm so I am not able to unlock my device and really play around with it due to the fact that I am always training others from with my device and also troubleshooting our mobile device systems with it.

Former OS/Device:
Blackberry - Storm1
Windows Mobile - Palm Treo 700w and Treo 700wx

VZW customer through and through (although I have considered switching to Sprint)

Hey!
I'm Bill and I'm a lurker. I currently have an LG Dare which I have had for almost 3 years. I've been waiting on an upgrade to a smartphone since March. I was originally following the rumors to the Iphone 5 in June but that didn't happen. I had the Tbolt in my hands in the store on release day but didn't really know if it'd be worth the $80 bucks a month since I hardly use it. Recently I've been thinking of just getting the Tbolt, now that seems lots of problems have been worked out and it's a lot cheaper. Then I was on to the Bionic, really wanted the SGSII on Verizon, but they passed on that. Looked into the Epic Touch 4g but no 4g in my area and Sprint's not the best here. Then it was definately the Rezound, but the generic styling really was a negative for me.

I think I've finally decided on the Galaxy Nexus. I'm hoping it comes out Friday. Plus withe the upgrade to 4gb it seems more worth it.

I post infrequently on Amazon- mostly the VGF, and CAG. I love my PS3 : )
I also read Phonearena, Gizmocrunch, Cnet, and DroidLife every day.

I don't really know much about the whole Android system, rooting, etc. so I'm nervously looking forward to it.
I'm a middle school teacher, love the Smurfs since the 80s, 80s music, and Star Wars.

Hey Everyone,
As you can guess from my screenID, my name is Don and I live in Arizona in the greater Phoenix area. I currently own a Blackberry Storm (original) and am anxiously looking forward to the release of the Galaxy Nexus.

For the past 13 years, I've earned my keep as an avionics software engineer for Honeywell and now L3 Communications. I am familiar with Linux and like tinkering with my techno gadgets, so I think I'll enjoy owning and customizing an Android phone. I'm looking forward to learning more about the whole "rooting" thing.

Last month I came very close to purchasing a "Bionic" but a friend of mine (and GS2 owner) convinced me to wait for the Nexus, and so I wait...

Let's see, what else. I'm married, have 3 kids ages 8-19 and enjoy model building, photography, computers, and Guitar.

That's about it for bio and background. Hope to be chatting with all of you soon!

I am on an original Incredible running Cyanogen Mod. I love this phone, but alas, it has gotten a little long in the tooth. It is old enough that I am just going to give it to my son as an MP3 player.

I visit XDA a lot. Otherwise, this is home base.

I basically lurk and only post when needing answers.

The short version is that I love reading bio's and learning little more about our members. It's always something I've enjoyed.

When the Galaxy Nexus is finally released, I will randomly pick 3 members and send out a free Galaxy Nexus case (once available in the AC store).

Special consideration will be given to those who regularly participate in the forums and stay away from personal attacks and trolling.

There will be no bias toward those who do not answer each of the questions, or the way in which they are answered.

Pics of your current phone would be cool too!

Hey, I'm Aaron

My Phone if the OG Droid (my first smart phone)

Anxiously awaiting the Galaxy Nexus.

I'm a software developer and have been working on some Android projects on the side for fun.

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

My first Smart phone was a Blackberry storm 2. I was waiting for updates as usual with smart phones, and I started to Google on info for it. Then I stumbled upon Crackberry, once I learned of the site I checked it every day multiple times a day. Then I started checking androidcentral, and was reading about android and how awesome the original droid was. Got fed up that my storm wasn't getting blackberry os6, traded someone on Craigslist for a Motorola droid 1.

Once I got the original droid, I knew android was where I was going to stay. It was so much more open then Blackberry, I was addicted to the different launchers, and adding custom icons.I remember I was so scared to root back then, I finally did it. I was hooked at that point. I was amazed at how you could change everything.

Then I got a Samsung fascinate, which I loved that phone so much. The feel, the size, the screen, it was perfect to me. It had a lot of dev support. Then the fascinate started having problems and we were again waiting for updates. Verizon upgraded me to the droid charge for free because of the problems the fascinate had. The droid charge is where I'm at now until the Galaxy nexus is released.

My droid charge with the menu light dimmer than the rest of of them. I'm running stock right now with go launcher ex, ice cream sandwich theme. To get the Google search bar I am using desktop visualizer. I've actually also had the Droid incredible 2 but only for a short time.Got a Lg revolution off of Craigslist for trade for my inc2, about to sell the lg for my Galaxy nexus. I check this site every single day at least 5 times a day. I will continue to check it even when I get my new device. I am a forum junkie I guess.

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

I am currently a BB user storm1, bold for a week and storm2. Bored of lack of progression from BB although I will miss BBM.

I was crackberry addict, not so much posting but checking multiple times per day and reading a lot of info.

I have been reading AC for the last few months as well as tipb debating between ios and android...for now the nexus has won out.

I will be sticking with the forum mostly lurking but will ask questions and get as much info as possible about my new device...if they ever release it!

How would you describe yourself - in terms of forum participation?

  • I post information when I am able to if it is new, did so near the release of the Bionic and some for the Nexus.
  • Still new to AC in a way, post tips when I can and news when it isn't redundant.
  • I'm a forum addict, AndroidCentral & Overclock.net (one of the largest tech & computer overclocking communities in the world) are my 2 most visited sites.
  • Not a troll in any sense of the word, moderate a couple of forums myself so I guess the responsibility just carries over.

The name is Robert Cook, graduated with a Bachelors in Digital Entertainment & Game Design in September. The Bionic is my first Android device and it has really opened my eyes up. As a computer/tech enthusiast, overclocker, and modder, I took it upon myself to mod the heck out of my Bionic as soon as I could and I continue to do so to this day. I owned a BlackBerry before so still new to the openness of the Android OS. This will be my first Nexus obviously and as such still a very new experience to me. Already in the process of learning how to code for Android devices myself as I am a coder and game designer. As such I think having a Nexus will be a great milestone as I will be able to produce products for easily the best version of the OS to date.

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

My name is Kevin and I currently own a Verizon Galaxy Nexus that was sold to me by best buy on 12/11/2011 before there was a release date. My previous phone was a droid razr and an Iphone 4 before that.

I love android and am doing all I can to keep the Galaxy Nexus tho BB is making a lot of attempts to get it back. I am fairly new to the forums but am trying to do my part in keeping everyone on their toes about my situation and help answer any questions about the phone that I can.

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

My former (smart) phones ran the gamut: Droid Eris, Palm Treo 755p, Palm Treo650, one of the original blackberries of some variation for work, plus a ton of (palm) pdas before that.

My current phone is: Droid Incredible, I have liked HTC phones.

I've definitely enjoyed Android and the Incredible has been a mostly solid phone for me. I've definitely been stalking the forums and site lately looking for Galaxy Nexus information as I think that will most likely be my next phone...assuming it is ever released.

I admit I most often lurk on here or search to see what other are saying on a particular topic or device.

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

i've had a BlackBerry Bold 9650 for th better part of a year

I check through all the Mobile Nations forums but this one and CrackBerry's are my favorites

I am always on the forum just don't participate as much right now, but once i get my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus ;) i will definitely start posting and participate alot more.

i wrote one of my thesis papers on how the mobile phone has changed so dramatically in the past 3 years, it simply blows my mind and thats why i love technology in general, Always changing Always getting better!
