Introduction

Hi,
My name is Tracy & I just joined because I'm interested in locking down my brand new android tablet that will be arriving tomorrow. It's not at all valuable, but it will be the only "safe" means of communication that I will have - literally everything else that I possess has been infected with some sort of keylogger or hacked into, & I do know who is responsible for it. I won't go into the details here because I'll post another thread, but what programs would you recommend for protecting it? It's an iRULU eXpro.

I also have a Kindle Fire & Samsung G6, both of which have something on it that is undetectable by antivirus programs.

I found my way here while researching how to protect my tablet.

Security is definitely something that more and more people are being aware of these days. Which is a good thing. Obviously keeping your tablet updated to the latest OS and have the latest security patching will be task number 1.

Only connect to Wi-Fi networks that you know of and don't browse any 'Dodgy' websites. Stick to ones you know. Thats my 2c for security.

Semana.exe : The actual Semana KeyLogger is known
to cause virus in Devices..Try it and report back

The first thing after setting up your device, is to use a password (that only you know) to unlock it.

After that, keep it always away from other people and keep it updated.

Like Matty said, stay away from sites and places that you don't trust.

Hi,
Thanks everybody. This is frustrating for me! Btw, I noticed that I hit the wrong key. I actually have a Samsung G5 - not G6.

No I haven't tried that program. I didn't know that such a thing existed. Is it safe?

Also, is it common for phone companies to have no knowledge that these things exist? The tech at Verizon that I spoke to yesterday said that this is a problem way beyond his expertise. He agrees that I'm being hacked somehow, but insists that keyloggers don't exist for android phones. He says that the keyboard is different, & so keyloggers won't work on them. Is this true or are these techs uninformed???

Last week I spoke to a tech at Verizon, & she scanned my phone for viruses, tightened security up on it, & removed a couple of questionable apps. She kept insisting that it was impossible to have keyloggers on android phones. It didn't solve my problem at all.

Yesterday I called back & spoke to somebody different. The man I spoke to refused to believe that this was an issue, & seemed to think that I was making this up - until I told him that I had screenshots showing all of the activity on my computer. He asked if I'd be willing to download a tech device that would let him see what I was seeing on my computer. I did, & he was shocked at everything I was showing him, & agrees that there is a security problem, but thinks it's most likely somebody I know behind it (it is) who knows answers to my security questions. However, I have security key codes on gmail & aol & don't use security questions & answers anymore. One other account actually sends me half the code to my phone & the other half to my email. The ONLY account that they haven't compromised is the one that sends half. It all seems to point to an issue with the phone due to the keycodes. I could be wrong, but for a few days I disabled my gmail from my phone & used it strictly for a phone rather than a smart phone. I changed my password, & guess what? No more problem! As soon as the tech had me enable gmail again, the problem came back.

Ugh!
