iOS 8, Your Thoughts?

Used one? Yes. Owned one? No.

I use iOS and Android, and really like both. But, I will say that for my own use, if a 4.7" or so iPhone comes out that I will be using Apple exclusively. They have addressed most of what I missed about Android with iOS 8, and I really do like the smoothness and simplicity of iOS. Not to mention the timely updates, of which Android is getting better in releasing, but not quite there yet, IMO.
Oh, I forgot to mention Apple's second to none customer service. It is great!

Continuity as well. I have a Mac so...

I may just stay on Android though. We will see once the iPhone 6 is announced.

I'm sorry you entered a market with no competition and subsequently succeeded?
Are you planning on using that excuse indefinitely? Windows phone is not new. It's been around for years now. And Android did not enter an empty market...the iPhone was already well established.

If anything the continuity thing is what Android is lacking but other than that, nothing screams "Android is so behind".

Admittedly, I haven't read up a ton on continuity, but I'm not seeing the huge appeal. I can accomplish the same thing with Dropbox, can I not? I heard one person say "but if you're working on a spreadsheet on your laptop and then walk away, your phone will automatically pop up with that same spreadsheet!" That seems like it would be a pain in the a** after a while, personally. Usually, if I'm walking away from my laptop, it's not because I intend to keep doing the same thing on my phone.

Never mind the fact that a *very* small percentage of users (even iPhone users, according to the numbers given at WWDC) are actually using a Mac OS. And that was the only new feature I saw from WWDC that wasn't just playing catch up.

Cook beamed with pride during the keynote, pointing out that they had had a lot of new iOS users switch from Android, but failed to mention that it was largely because they had entered new markets last year. "Stealing" a couple of percentage points from your competitors in a market that you just broke into isn't surprising. It should be expected.

I keep pointing out, too, the comments Cook made about Android. When your marketing focus changes from bragging about how good your product is to talking about how bad your competition is, it means you've got a problem with your product and you know it. Whenever companies start mud-raking their competitors, IMO, it shows that they are terrified of those competitors. Especially when that mud-raking is filled with half-truths.

Every OS is scared of Android. Android keeps growing and the phones keep getting better and better, while WP lags behind, BlackBerry got kicked out the smartphone market and iOS is just now doing something cool.

If you are running behind who's in front all you can do is talk smack to them and see if they can slip up. But all indications show, Android ain't slowing down any time soon.

You were never interested in iOS 8 judging from this post.

You mean like Samsung has been doing towards Apple for years now?

Well, Samsung has little to be scared about, they are bigger than Apple, they just don't make as much money.

Everything Samsung did was in response to something Apple did first. Many of us were annoyed that it took Samsung so LONG to finally start fighting back. They didn't really do that until around the time the GS3 came out. Apple products had so many weaknesses that could obviously be exploited in a commercial, and none of the Samsung commercials were talking about them.

I didn't see Samsung fight back until the original Note cane out. Then they had the commercial about Apple fans standing in line.

I thought the idea of a business was to make money. The ones making the most money are usually consider bigger.

"He started it!" Compelling argument.

And have continued ever since. My statement was a reply to the comment by TenshiNo that "Whenever companies start mud-raking their competitors, IMO, it shows that they are terrified of those competitors. Especially when that mud-raking is filled with half-truths."

But alas, this isn't an Apple vs Samsung or iOS vs Android thread, it's about iOS 8 itself. I for one like the changes and updates they've given it. Many tweaks were long overdue. Depending on the look and feel of the iPhone 6, I may just give up my LG G2 and it's big screen to return to iOS.

The ones used by the most people are bigger. No one would argue Ferrari is bigger than Ford and Chevy. Marketshare does matter...even Apple believes that. Which is why they are finally relenting on things like smaller tablets and bigger phones.

You don't say...

...which copied many Android features. Which is why Android keeps entering into the discussion. And probably will indefinitely.

You could say they were 5 years overdue.

Stop it. Get out of this thread if you are gonna just bash Apple.
