Short answer is no. If you use the Skyfire browser you should be able to watch flash videos though, as it will send the video off to Skyfire servers behind the scenes to be transcoded.

As for non-video content, I believe the answer is no, though I think you have some options to handle this if you have jailbroken.

Thanks. thats just what i thought... well in this case no matter what cpu or display ipad2 got it is an absolutely useless item (well at least to me) i can do all this things on my Atrix 4G and even more. I am not a fan of mobile gaming though, i have a desktop for that. I might be getting XOOM have to think about it, don't really like the big size of it though.... 7inch display would've been better... well at least for me...

Hopefully those days are gone now that 4 of 6 editors left Engagdet...... miss the Ryan block days lol...

I sure hope so, its ridiculous that a major tech site like Engadget is so biased. Its so obvious that all the Apple fanboys flock to engadget and bash the crap outta android in the comments at every available opportunity.

I always find it kind of funny on engadget how whenever new apple products gets released they have huge banners and such. How when the apple store goes down there are news items for it.

they have given good reviews to other products sure, but they always lean towards apple products.

In most situations AnandTech is a quality site. Remember Anand (he is a person too) was the one who did the detailed research work to figure out why most SSDs (except Intel ones) were having serious problems with "herky jerky" user experience. And from his work the other major SSD makers have pretty much all put an emphasis on random read-write operations - which dramtically improved things for everyone.

Where Anand (and most other tech sites) can get into trouble (and Anand has on occasion) is when dealing with BOTH new hardware AND a new software platform. That is the Xoom situation - brand new SoC coupled with a MAJOR revision to Android almost to the point of being a new OS. I do not think the testing suites have caught up to Honeycomb yet.

In fact, we can prove this out. Does anyone out there have a Xoom and a Atrix? If yes run benchmarks on those two and compare, as they both are Tegra 2 and Android (albeit different versions).

Buying a product (or defending one for that matter) solely on specs or benchmark scores is absurd. Point proven by the fact that the original iPad with its single core processor is much smoother than the Xoom with a dual core processor with faster cpu speeds. It's all about user "experience", not specs and Apple gets that like no other. I LOOOOOVE my Evo and all that it will do (yes it's rooted), but the Xoom has a looooooong way to go as far as fit and finish.

Is no one going to correct this deliberate misinformation?

All the benchmarks in the world are rather pointless whenyour comparing two entirely different OS`s. Both sytems have there own set of restrictions and bonuses. It simply comes down to which you enjoy to use. I own both the Xoom and the iPad2 and each one does certain things well.

The iPad with all the apps ive acumulated over the past year is a great entertainment device. The Xoom is my primary web surfing tablet since i absolutly love the quick menu and the voice search funtions.

The Xoom cameras clearly are better on paper, yet the iPads front facing camera works well and is a crisp pic when using facetime. The Xooms plusses aside fromjust megapixels is the awsome dual Led flash, digital zoom and the numerous options built in the camera app.

If/when the Android market gains some apps the Xoom could very well take over as my primary tablet. :-) i love the fact i can upgrade to LTE this fall for free.

My wife and family still love the ipad because its familaiar and easy to use, we have tons of apps on it and no questions about how to do anything. I on the other hand enjoy learning about new tech and as this is my first Android tablet im loving all the options the OS and hardware bring to the tablet. Not buying Apples overpriced accesories when i can simply plug in my $5 micro HDMI to HDMI cable and go.

To each their own, people should stop worrying about whats on some benchmark and start enjoying the great technology thats available.

OMG... that is exactly how I feel and I am in the exact same situation. We love both devices. One side is going to be super biased vs the other. I am a geek and love the tech and specs on the Xoom. My wife and I love the iPad for what it offers.

All this bickering and trolling is laughable. People need to relax and enjoy the technology. Peace.

The resolution is going to play a part in all of this. I have a Xoom and an iPad 2...They both have strengths and weaknesses...

What I want to really know is WHY does the ipad2 crush the xoom on graphics? Something doesnt seem right with those tests especially when the Gtab is almost even with the ipad2. It's almost like the benchmark is only using half the xoom or the immature honeycomb software is to blame. I think Google/Moto need to respond to this situation. They are selling this thing for almost double what an ipad2 costs and it cant even compete on graphics?? Very sad if it is true.
I am still getting a xoom wifi when released as I dont care about gaming.

FYI-As much as I think Apple makes a good tablet I will never buy it becuase of the closed we tell you how to use it software. IMO, itunes is a virus. If it wasn't for this I would buy an ipad2....if only it ran honeycomb...heh

I would suggest that you get a FREE app from Google, called Body and look at the graphics on both. I think you will find that the Xoom far excids iPad2.

I guess I should believe everything I read on the internet without question, right?

And what makes them a "trusted source" as you've mentioned in both of your 2 posts on this forum? Is it the same things that make Engadget a "trusted source"? Because Endgadget frequently portrays Android in a negative light while putting Apple on a pedestal, and many people would consider them a "trusted source".

Most of the time, Anand is one of the best sources. They actually tend to have a good technical knowledge of what they are talking about. I'm surprised they let this review run

Hopefully those days are gone now that 4 of 6 editors left Engagdet...... miss the Ryan block days lol...

Sadly, it may get worse. The 2 editors I know of that left (Nilay and Josh) were android users for their primary phones. They at least seemed to like it.

I don't have the link, but in Ars Technica'a ipad 2 review they show LINPACK benchmark tests (note: cpu test) of the Xoom losing to even the original iPad. Obviously that's not right, but it just demonstrates that these benchmarks have not been designed to utilize Honeycomb or the hardware correctly. While I wouldn't be surprised if the A5 is more graphically powerful than the Tegra 2, we can't rely on these benchmarks to make any kind of judgement. It's a shame that tech blogs aren't more responsible about these reports, but I'm not surprised at all considering how they're "reporting" on the current nuclear power plant "meltdowns".

YouTube - Motorola Xoom vs Apple iPad 2 Comparison

Watch this comparison vid, when they play the game samurai vengeance 2, the Ipad lags alot

Very interesting...

I'm also in agreement that it seems like the iPad has been optimized for this benchmark, seeing as iOS hasn't really changed since 2007. Honeycomb is pretty much a build from the ground up for a tablet so of course it'll need a few tweaks here and there.

What I pulled from this video is that no matter how well a device performs in a "clean" bnchmark environment, the real-world performance can differ.
