What do you guys think about this statement made by engadget in the review of the iPhone 4. I personally have had every model of the iphone up untill the Evo came out and I switched. I cant see myself going back to the iphone after using the Evo and android. What about you guys though?

To each their own. I personally love my evo. Although i havent owned an iphone but usr my bros its a good drvice. It just sucks that you have to jailbreak it to customize it. With android you dont have to thats a Plus :)

I was pretty shocked by that statement as well. But I do not completely disagree. My buddy received his yesterday and it is definitely a beauty. Screen is nice but I think it is getting over hyped kinda like how Sprint over hypes their 4G. The camera is very nice. It doesn't completely leave my evo in the dust though like how some will describe it but it takes nice pics and video. It is sleek but boy does it feel small in my hands since I'm used to my evo, and my buddy is even jealous of the big screen we evo users have. If you are an Android fan, then I doubt it will win many people over from our camp. It's super sleek, but still the same ole iPhone to me... still can't do **** on it. Can't even set a stupid custom sms ringtone..like cmon. I'm sure it will be the biggest hit with the masses..but I love my evo with Android.

Its a stupid statement. Its like saying Android is the best out there in OS. The best Smart Phone should be described whats best for each individual out there. What works the best for me won't for you and vice versa.

2 things:

- Engadget has absolutely ZERO self respect or credibility.
- I'm glad I didn't waste 5 min of my life reading their review.

Apple makes a good product but i like my EVO. 4.3" display, Sprint network/pricing, open/flexible/customizable OS/platform, tight integration with Google/Gmail, removable storage, removable battery. these are all things important to me that iPhone does not have.

Just like engadget to bash any other product besides apple. I dont see why android users still listen to what they have to say. LOL

Hey now...thats not true. The EVO got a GREAT reviwe from them and was pretty much labeled as the best phone on the market at the time.

I won't lie, the new construction of the iPhone does make it look very quality. And they make a good point, the whole package its tough to beat iPhone if you like how it works.

My thoughts are a general consumer, handed an Evo and a iPhone 4....just from using it for 30 minutes each, i think they would go with the iPhone. It has that "i immediately know how to use it" appeal and slick hardware.

But yeah, not a fan of iOS myself....but i can't lie if iPhone 4 was on Sprint i would probably try out both phones to see which one i'd prefer. Ain't nothing wrong with being in the discussion of top phones on the market either haha.

It's a personal decision. It's like saying a car is the best out there. Some people will say the best sports car is the Vette, others will say it's a 911, others will say it is a ......

You get the idea. I love my EVO. I like the new Iphone (much better than the 3gs), but I wouldn't even consider it, because I can't stand ATT, and their network is not reliable for ME. This is all personal decisions.

I have nothing against Apple. My thing is that every file imagineable that I posess isn't entirely compatible with their stuff. Had an iPod for a week only and returned it due to limitations and incompatible file formats. Jumped on a Zune instead and at the time...felt Zune had the better package, albeit an inferior Marketplace. That had no bearing on my satisfaction though as I refuse to buy DRM stuff....instead get stuff from Amazon and the like....DRM free files.

Simply put...Apple products are not for me. I've done just fine with MS and non-Apple products (regular MP3 players, Android, etc.) One thing I do happen to love about Apple though is that they set a bar for new stuff. I applaud them for that.

When it comes to smartphones... I don't think there truly is a "Best" out there. There are so many variants these days, each person has a smartphone that typically meets their needs/wants. For me, I think my EVO is what's best for me. I had a Blackberry before, and while I thought the reliability of the device is awesome... it just wasn't for me. Doesn't mean that I'm going to say that Android is superior to Blackberry, nor would I say that my EVO is better then the new iPhone.

In the end, it's all a matter of what's best for you, and what you like the most

Yeah, cause engadget is so anti-Evo. /sarcasm

Engadget is one of the least-biased tech blogs out there...nowhere near approaching the moronic writing over at Gizmodo. This doesn't mean there isn't bias, but every writer/editor/blogger is going to have a bit of a slant based on personal preference. Engadget does a pretty darn good job of being fair in what they write and report.

engadget is a pretty good site to find out about new gadget. not good site to judge on how each user should see the gadget.

You know I have never personally owned an Iphone , nor do I want to. A lot of my friends have the Iphone and love it. I choose not to get on the bandwagon for various reasons. The Iphone is built amazingly and looks great and has a ton off apps. The Iphone is also very restrictive not allowing its users to modify the phone or use flash. I personally hate itunes because I think it's bloatware and it slows my computer down, thats one reason I wont use an Iphone. I dont like people telling me how I can use my phone.. I don't like people trying to overcharge me using my phone.

We have choices in life and I choose not to be an Apple fanboi. I choice Life and I choose FREEDOM !

My personal thought about the iPhone, it is a nice phone, nice design. With new enhancements for Apple but these are old for the rest of us in the real world. Take example of creating folders, we in the Android, RIM and Windows are able to do this long time ago, this is nothing new to us, but for the iPhone fan boys this is an entirely new concept and they make it seem like they are the ones who invented it and none of us have that function. Now let move on to multi tasking, we in the Android world had this for quite some time, and the people over at Palm do it better than anyone else, again Apple made it seem like they also invented this, and how about the front face camera, if I remember correctly HTC EVO was first, but not in Apple world, in the Apple world they invented that to. If you go by the Apple world they basically invented the entire Smartphone concept and all other companies should close their doors right now and all should go home. And we all should go buy iPhone because G-d himself came down and created it. I like the design of the phone but please iphone fan boys and all there bias sites should really pay attention what is going on in the real world and not in the apple world.
What apple is releasing now we had long time ago and this is nothing new to me, my friend has the iphone 3GS and he was totally blown away by multi tasking and folder creation, I told him dude chill it is nothing new to Android world, his reply was don?t be hating, how dumb is that comeback? Don?t get me wrong it is solid phone with lot of pros and cons, but by the bias site they don?t list any cons. I find that little frustrating and totally stupid. I like my Android and the power of doing what I need to do. If you remove all the apps from apple, what will you have? You will have iPod / dumb phone.

What I like about the iPhone:

- quality construction
- super smooth UI
- Games

What I don't like:

- Evil Empire consisting of Apple and AT&T bringing the fun house down with all their limitations and rediculous pricing
- Screen too small
- Every Tom, Rich (since the common name here results in a 4 stars..lol), and Harry have one

A lot is included under #1...limitations. That's the usual like can't customize anything out of the box, no removable battery, no expandable memory slot, the crazy iron fist Apple puts on devs....the usual...

Would I get an iPhone if it came to Sprint? Maybe. I always loved the smooth UI, and to some point, I am done customizing phones as far as running different roms etc goes. However, I like the 7 homescreen system on Android amongst other things. I guess if you have an iPhone, you feel like you're with the "in" crowd, not just socially, but also technologically since every one talks about it, compares other phones to it, and because of the great Developer support.
