Apple def makes a good phone, i like how fluid their touch screens are and the on screen keyboard, its almost seamless, however i just switched over from apple to android (evo) because i can't take their limitations! Although they make quality products, i was way too bored with the same thing over and over, and i jailbroke it, so the new additions to software upgrade for iOS4 isnt rele anything impressive to me, plus with TuneSync, i can sync my iTunes to my Evo anyhow. I like the new look to the iPhone, but looks arent everything, and the evo is a sexier phone ;)

So far going from iPhone to Evo, i feel as if i made the better choice with Android :)

All I'm saying is that with 28% of the smart phone market here, the iPhone, like it or not, is already an Android killer until Android makes up market share. It's just cold, hard numbers.

We can get as emotional about our phones as we want, but the numbers don't lie. Plus, I don't see why everyone is so hot and bothered about the iPhone here. Enjoy your EVO and move on. :p

So using this logic....does that mean blackberry is better than iPhone?

i love how the US always has larger options for phones (evo, incredible etc.) while us Canadians are stuck with Milestone/Droid or HTC Hero (my carrier being Telus). i pray that the new and upcoming android phones are released up here more often. i dont wanna by the the new iphone!!!!! i want a evo!!!

Pretty soon, the only thing apple will have against any phone manufacturer will be the AppStore and Itunes.

Other than that, everyone else will be doing it better and cleaner.

There are products that are coming out to compete with those too... just check out what doubletwist is doing (and app brain for that matter).... I think its only a matter of time before either Google buys one of them (or both) or does something similar with the market themselves!!

Just my 2cents!

How is the Inc. better?

You're kidding right? I mean this is an Android forum and you haven't read enough to see the clear difference?

Ok just in case you are serious, here are a few highlights:

1. Better network. Yes AT&T is faster in some areas, but overall VZW has better 3G coverage and is more reliable.

2. The Incredible is customizable. There is very little you can't change about the Incredible from the wallpaper to the widgets, the the alternate keyboards, home screens, and dialer, etc With Root, you can now even load custom ROM's on it. Even if you Jailbreak an iPhone even you don't have that much customization.

3. Google Voice works seamlessly (lower carrier bills) and is not even allowed on iPhone

4. Flash, weather you love it or hate it, tons of the web still users it and will for a good long time. Incredible will get it (when Froyo launches later this year) and iPhone will never have it.

5. Better radio. iPhone is well known to have one of the worst radios in any cel phone, while I have yet to see any specific study of the Incredible I can tell you that phone works in many places my BlackBerriers and LG phones don't.

6 Browse Alternatives. I actually think the Incredible browser (which is NOT stock Android) is better than Mobile Safari. It's faster and automatically re-sizes and wraps text. Mobile Safari does not do that at least not as well. If you don't like the browser you can get others: Opera Mini, Dolphin, Skyfire, etc. iPhone has Safari and now Opera Mini but they had to jump through major hoops to get that.

7. Side Loaded Apps, without rooting/jail-breaking/rooting.

8 Removable/swappable battery

9. Infinitely Expandable memory with MicroSD cards (32GB at a time but nothing saying you cant have more than 1 card)

10. Does not require iTunes. With the Incredible can use other programs to load your music and other media, you can buy music from Amazon or somewhere other than iTunes right from the phone. Upgrades are OTA, and do not require a computer program at all.

I could probably go on but you get the idea.

Doubletwist is garbage compared to iTunes. (which is saying a lot considering that iTunes ain't so great itself) Its slow, buggy, and is very limited.

It will be a while before anything can compete in a serious way with iTunes. It isn't just the program; its the app store, the music store, and the video store. Those three combined are a very powerful force, and are part of the reason why Apple's products have been so successful.

Much of what you identified is personal preference. I would actually say, objectively, the Incredible and iPhone 4 are about evenly matched. Both have their strong and weak points, but ultimately what it comes down to is what you want from your phone.

@VZWRocks that flash is a monster. I didn't think it would be that important, but when you load up a page and see that flash go to work you feel as if you are getting the whole story, and that's just with the lite version. I can't wait to see its implementation in froyo.

iPhone is overrated anyway, Droid Incredible blows it away. Even the new version it is still better. If you want the video conference thing then the EVO has that and VZW will almost certainly have the better version of that (minus 4G of course) by sometime this winter.
-1

The Incredible certainly doesn't blow it away but I'd say it's just as good as the 3GS. The iPhone 4 will definitely top the Incredible but it'll be at the Droid X's level.

Doesn't matter to me. I like both Android and iPhone.

Not quite. You missed the part where Steve made it clear it was an open platform. If you want to develop an app for it, you could. (and there was no mention of mac compatibility, probably because it would give away features for a future update)

You're kidding right?

When has Apple's market EVER been open?

If someone wants to add facetime capability to their app, apple will not stop them. He made that clear.

Hell, it is in Apple's best interest to allow that because it will allow facetime to propagate through a wider variety of platforms. The ONLY reason they would have offered up the standards is if they wanted developers to do it. Otherwise, they would have kept it to themselves.

The best commercial Sprint could make right now:

"iPhone 4 announcement got you down? Want something truly revolutionary? EVO 4G with True 4G, WiFi Hotspot, HDMI out, and a 4.3"in screen. How you like them Apples???"

It's better then "Hi I'm a PC and I'm a Mac", because Windows isn't a PC it's a OS which is funny because Mac is a PC(You can buy Windows OS without the Hardware and still have no PC :P ).

so open platform meaning you can develop anything on it. but to actually see it on the app store is a whole level of different

Features may be almost comparible but price is not. A family with Androids will pay almost half what iPhone users pay.

iPhone remains at almost the power of Android but with a 75% stupid penalty.

iPhone. Clueless But Happy.

How do you figure? Show me one Android phone with the power of the 3GS that costs only $100. Same goes for the iPhone 4.

If there is one thing I cannot stand its Fandroids (or Apple Fanboys) that speak before they think and make stuff up to try and prove that their **** is better than the other person's.

Android and iPhone are both great platforms but the iPhone is locked on AT&T which is having major problems with its network right now. And more and more Android phones keep coming out that are just as good, if not better than the iPhone. The iPhone is just marketed a lot more which is why it's more popular at the moment.

IPhone 4.0 Multitasking and Killing Apps...hmmm

OK, so I just watched the 'Everything you need to know about iPhone in 10 minutes' video on TiPb (http://www.imore.com/2010/06/28/iphone-4-review/) to see the final way some of the new features work. One of the things I was interested in is their implementation of Multi-taksing. I seem to remember when the iPhone 4 OS was announced that someone at Apple - I believe his majesty himself - stated that if you need a task manager then you did it wrong. I completely disagree with that as even on Android there are times where killing an application manually is desirable, although not all the time. The thing I found interesting is that on the iPhone 4, when you bring up the running apps you can apparently do a long press over one of them to kill it immediately. Hmm...isn't that basically task manager functionality without calling it a task manager? So does this mean they didn't do it right?

As I read that Apple version of multitasking is not true multitasking process, the best multitasking I found is on the Palm Pre. I still think they need to improve the Android multitasking.

You are wrong. When you long press over a app in that bottom tray you can remove it yes but that is simply to get rid of one more icon. This is because technically none of them are fully running. Certain API's may be running such as audio, GPS, etc... but those apps are essentially frozen and that gives you the ability to resume instantly where you left off.
