Plan on jumping ship to the new iPhone?

The iPhone won't have a problem selling plenty of devices when it hits the street in a couple of weeks. People who don't know the difference thought my Nexus One and my EVO was an iPhone. I had an iPhone for 2 years and there is nothing wrong with the iPhone or the iPhone OS. to each his own.. After dumping my iPhone for a Nexus One for a few months (T-Mobile has horrible coverage where I live) I dropped the N1 for another Android phone the EVO. I look at the EVO and iPhone like buying a brand new Corvette... The iPhone Corvette comes with an Automatic Transmission... All you have to do is turn it on and drive.... Android is pretty much the same Corvette except you got a 6 speed manual transmission giving you a lot more control over your experience/drive..... You can't really go wrong with either one.... Just depends on the experience you want once you drive off the lot....... People in the Automatic want things easy and not have to think about them, while with the manual you are more in control of your overall experience...

Nice way to put it.

I like Apple's hardware and marketing but abhor their business practices and nanny complex.

Could you imagine an Apple iPhone with a 4.3" screen and Android? Now THAT would be a game-changer. In it's current (and soon to be current) incarnation, the iPhone has been moved to "as good as" status when comparing to Android and Evo. The same couldn't be said a year ago, IMHO.

Android has come a long way, and it seems the consumers (even the non-tech obsessed among us) are taking notice.

Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about the iPhone. I think it is a nice device. I do however, have a problem with the network. If the iphone was on a different carrier (i.e. Sprint/Verizon), I would consider it.....

OK, done considering

Loving my EVO!!

Great Quote !

iphone customers now, complain constantly about AT&T. If Apple put the iphone on a better network, iphone owners would get a better experience and be happier overall. Isn't that what apple is about mostly is user experience ?

Plus, people are tired of being raped by AT&T im sure, My buddy that has a plan with less minutes and less data and pays for unlimited texting is just over $100 a mo. He is coming to sprint in another month.

Sprint is somewhat dropping the ball right now, The Pre failed due to high demand and not enough units, I hope they can get a steady stream of EVO's going soon....

Apple's biggest mistake was AT&T........... Google and the Nexus One was the right idea.. The problem was getting the carriers to agree... You should be able to pick the device that works perfectly for you and then find the carrier that has the best coverage where you work, live and play. Instead Apple locked into AT&T for only the powers to be at Apple and AT&T really know how long. I loved my Nexus One, T-Mobile just has ZERO 3G coverage where I live... Now while in Memphis, TN (Which I go to once a month) They have the HSPA+ coverage... WOW... FAST.... REALLY FAST.... but from Memphis to Nashville (where I live) you get almost no coverage 90% of the drive. I was really looking for the Sprint Nexus One.... When they scrapped it and said it was going to be the EVO I made the switch.... I love the EVO... I still felt the N1 was the perfect balance of screen size, weight and balance plus you get all the latest Android updates well ahead of any one else....

The EVO works just fine... It's taken me a full week to adjust to A. the size and B. the fact that all the buttons are on the opposite side than on the N1. over time it will all be second nature.

As for Apple.... You have to thank them big time..... If not for the iPhone you might not have Android or HTC making handsets like they are. Apple really changed the landscape of smart phones and forced the rest of the world to play catch up.... Hard to say how great the new iPhone 4 hardware is until people start getting their hands on them. I think HTC is breathing down their neck when it comes to Hardware... Specially where HTC was just a year ago. I played with a Hero at Sprint and passed before going the N1 route and the Hero was just 2009 hardware....

As for AT&T, I am saving $10 per month with the EVO (even with the $10 EVO tax added onto the $69.99 plan) and my 450 minutes a month go a long way since about 90% of my phone calls are to other mobile phones... I probably won't even use up half my 450 land line minutes. AND my nights and weekends start earlier giving me more for my money. Don't even get me started on FREE Sprint AND Google navigation ($10 charge with AT&T and the iPhone) Sprint TV is a bonus... I don't see me using it that much... Not in a 4G area but I travel a lot for work and pass in and out of 4G area's.. Even as a 3G phone the EVO would be awesome...

They are sold out at all the stores near me! best buy, sprint, radio shack... :(

Check out Walmart.... I travel for a living and when I need odds and ends I hit up Walmart... I was curious and looked... The store I was in had 5 on the shelf. So more curious than ever I stopped in 2 or 3 other Walmarts and each had 3 and 4 on the shelf.. Then when I got home today I went to both Walmarts in my area and they BOTH had 5 on the shelf.... I just don't think people think of going to Walmart to get a cell phone....

For the average joe blow that doesn't wasn't to tinker with their device the iphone is great. Look the device can be used by a young child enough said.

If you want to have a bit more customization and perhaps tinker with the device a bit more the android is the other option.

My iPhone friend examined my EVO and thusly declared she didn't like it after 15 seconds. Note that she didn't interact with it, but only looked at the exterior and my custom Home Screen app ...

I know she'll get the iPhone 4 -- she's in marketing. And I think that's probably what's best for her, actually.

Android is for people who like to tinker, I think.

Check out Walmart....
my nephew and I were in a Walmart in Northeast Maryland today, I asked the cashier in electronics if they were selling Sprint phones yet (as I didnt see them displayed) the girl looked at me like I had 2 heads, made a weird face and said "no not that Ive heard" so is it not all Walmarts selling Sprint now?

Not every Walmart does Sprint but most of them do. In all the Stores I had been in around the state of TN they even had a clear case showing what they had physically in stock.

Very much agreed... All though my 7 year old asked to see my EVO and in less than 30 seconds she had found the You Tube app and in less than 5 minutes she was online with the browser. Now she wouldn't know how to customize any thing but she rather quickly figured out how to turn it on and find the stuff she wanted to play with....

Except that you can only allowed to drive that Corvette in an 30mph area. (throttled data)

Where I live I am getting WAY faster data speeds on my EVO than I did on the iPhone and AT&T....

Again it's all comes down to what network works best for you in your area. Sprint is Horrible in some area's I am sure of it.. AT&T is known for being bad in New York City and the San Fran - Bay area of California....

iPhone is overrated anyway, Droid Incredible blows it away. Even the new version it is still better. If you want the video conference thing then the EVO has that and VZW will almost certainly have the better version of that (minus 4G of course) by sometime this winter.

How is the Inc. better?

You're basing that statement on? Engadget maybe?

Guess you missed the update:

"We're hearing from a couple sources that the shot here from The Playbook is a little out of context, and actually refers to a new feature for businesses looking to restrict disproportionately high usage by employees with company data cards."
