iPhone 6's are bending when sitting down?

Come on guys we know their are only 9 bent iPhones out there.

Lets count them.
1,2,3....266,267,268.

Lol. Let's also not suggest that most iPhone 6/6+ will end up bent. Some will bit I really don't believe the majority will. When I get one I highly doubt it will end up bent even on an unnoticeable level and I will simply treat it the way I treat all my phones.

The size difference between a 5" phone and a 7" tablet is huge. Most people I know keep their phones in their front pockets. And every male I know keeps it in their front pocket. There's really not many places where you could keep it, unless you always have some type of bag/pack with you.

In your hand :) theres a reason you have 2 of them :)

But any phone can snap/bend to be honest.

You think people should carry their phone in their hand at all times?! And yes, there are reasons. We've had two hands since way before we had phones :P

I'm not quite sure what you're saying, but I don't think Apple is completely to blame for the bent phones. It's not like they bend themselves. But I think it's reasonable to expect you phone to stay straight under normal usage. Whether the 6 Plus does, I'm not sure about. I think the phone is unnecessarily and ridiculously thin. I also think that people are probably a little careless with their phones.

The problem is with "normal useage". There seems to be quite a varying OPINION on what that constitutes. To me that DOES NOT constitute putting the phone in the front pocket of tight jeans with no cade, no screen protector, repeatedly subjecting it to the force of an average person's weight and not expecting any damage.

I am not seeing this problem with Android phones. Just sayin. I know lots of people with large Android phones.

Apple's metal clearly bends more easily than Plastic does...and thats a problem. Plastic will either break (it takes a lot to break it) or return to it's normal shape. Metal retains it's distorted shape.

I know a fair amount of folks with iPhone 6/6+. None of them have bent phones and I kinda heckle them about it. My only point is that I believe the iPhone bending thing is not common, I know with effort it can be bent. I can certainly live quite happily with that and may pick up a 6+ in the future along with a Note 4.

It's likely your friends are a lot more careful with their iPhones than they might otherwise be thanks to Bendgate being so public. I know I would in their place.

The accusation is not that it bends at a 90 degree angle at the slightest breeze. The accusation is that is becomes non-flat over time even when in your front pocket.

I won't be carrying my phones in my front pocket so shouldn't be an issue for me. It may be in my back jeans (loose fitting) pocket while I'm standing/walking. I treat all my electronics with great care and any phone I have will use a protective case and screen protector (usually tempered glass). If a phone I have ends up damaged after that then I'll address it. So far, so good.

I think you'll find the most common normal would usage would be pretty much what you just said. That being said, I've put my 6 under quite a bit of pressure (just from it being in my pocket) and it seems fine.

To me, the combination of not using a case, not using a screen protector, and stuffing your phone into tight front jeans pockets DEFINES abuse. Like not ever washing/waxing your car but expecting its finish to look new and stay damage free. I think if you look at most (maybe not all) phones that are subjected to this triad of treatment they will certainly appear other than in brand new condition, with scratches and scuffs after time...which to me is totally unacceptable because its easily preventable. I know that not everyone (or even most) people feel this way. Dirt? A little dirt can happen. Scuffs, scratches, etc.? Completely and easily preventable. I understand that a lot of people don't care but if your phone isn't in brand new condition anyways it seems like the idea of it being ever so slightly bent may not bother you so much either. Different strokes

Do you own a swiss watch like an omega or a rolex? if so, looking after that and wearing it must drive you nuts.

There is a line where a device crosses over from being a usable tool to a piece of jewelry. A smartphone (like a watch) is first and foremost a tool. it has a definite purpose. It should ( and this is the nub of the argument about bent phones) be reasonably robust and fit for normal day use. Once its not able to take the knocks and strains of normal use, it becomes a piece of jewelry. Regarding swiss watches, they happen to be both, they are well crafted, detailed and beautifully executed, but will (normally) withstand the rigors of daily life and in most case be near bomproof and will still be functional and usable regardless of how poorly its treated. Not so the iphone. it is in my opinion very close to the tool/jewelry line. You can't chuck it around, keep it in your pocket, not baby it. It is an order of magnitude less robust than existing android phones and the iphones which proceeded it. It so happens that i think Apple are fine with this. They want the Iphone to be jewel-like. Its the users who have to adapt to treating it as such.

YNerf, I had a Rolex Explorer II. It WAS a beautiful watch but just wearing it to my white - collar job got it scratched and scuffed up and it drove me nuts. So, when one of my employees asked me if I'd sell it to him I had no problem letting it go. The difference with the iPhone is that you can protect it. I do believe that a case and screen protector make it more durable. Enough that it won't get scratched up in and bent in daily use. Aluminum is soft. Apple should have used a good internal frame on such a large aluminum phone. ...but they wanted metal, slim, light, and pretty. Well, there's a cost and the cost was strength. I don't agree with their design choices but I know I can still protect the phone so it's okay with me. I still think the iPhone has a lot to offer and NO phone is without its compromises. Sure, to have less durability as a compromise is not a choice everyone should accept. ...especially those that don't take the above noted steps to protect their phones anyways. Jeweley? An Omega and Rolex are jewelry to me but a Casio GShock or Armitron are just tools.

I think people feel that the 6 plus should be as tuff as the smaller phones from everything I have read about this, and now want to blame Apple for their own ignorance. They are so used to being able to not give doing this a second thought for so long that they assumed that they wouldn't have any issues. It just goes to show you how little some people actually think about what they do with their phones.

I have fairly large legs and if I put a phone as long as the 6 plus sideways in my front pockets the ends aren't going to be supported against my legs and with normal sitting and standing and squatting down to pick up something it is not only uncomfortable with it in my pocket I know that I am going to be exherting it to a lot of stress.

I am quite sure Apple never expected people to carry this phone like this, because it's not really designed to be. I am quite sure that thought their customers were smart enough to figure this out on their own before damaging the phone , but as we all can see this isn't the case at all.

Wake up Apple.... you should know by now that you have some really dumb people using your products that have no common sense and need warning stickers plastered all over the device warning for everything and that those who hate you will take every opportunity to slam you because of these things... and these people. Furthermore how dare you to try to make a thin device that people with no common sense can bend so easily when they carry it in a manner that it was never designed to be . You have brought this on yourself by making it so people no longer have to think for themselves about how they use their phones.... SHAME ON YOU..... Lol... Lol

To be honest, I don't really want to have to think about what I'm doing with my phone too much. I've never had to in the past. That being said, I don't think the phone would turn sideways easily, once it's in my pocket. And I'm not so careless that I'd put it in there sideways.

Again, the real problem for me is that they made the phone so thin in the first place. If they're not going to strengthen it sufficiently, if rather they made it a bit thicker, but fixed the strength, protruding camera and had even better battery life. I think they made a mistake making it so thin. I've rarely, if ever, heard someone complain about an iPhone being too thin. So it seems as if making it thinner offers nothing that most consumers want, and instead gives them things they don't want or can't have.
