iPhone 6's are bending when sitting down?

So I suppose the complaints littering the Apple forums are just coincidence. I counted 20 in one thread alone. The writer at iMore realized his iPhone 5 was bent and he had no idea how it happened. Then he went on to say anybody who didn't realize metal bent was stupid. Himself included, evidently.

Sorry, from what I have seen, combined with basic knowledge of aluminum and some common sense, I don't need any more proof. Aluminum is not a good material to build phones out of. Period.

Where is the proof that the phones were bent in their pockets, like they are claiming? They haven't proven anything.

Neither is sheet metal for body panels on cars because it dings too easily. Can you imagine what it does in an accident? OMG! Why couldn't they have just made them out of polycarbonate so it just pops back out like Saturns had.

You are right there definitely. They've finally at least taken most of the metal out of bumpers and side spoilers. I like metal in parts of the body of phones in somewhat the same way. The HTC M7 had a perfect mix of metal reinforced with plastic (pretty genius really). It has made for one good looking sturdy phone that's pretty scratch resistant IMO. I hope phones continue to use both materials where it makes sense. I can see it saves money to use one or the other and is much easier to design with fewer body pieces.

Like I said previously, it's only ok to post negative things about Android when you post the complaint but when others do, you always rebut in most cases.

Are you trying to make the argument that only people who have owned "recent" iOS device and used it for an extended amount of time are allowed opinions about iOS?

If so, why would you do that since you hate Apple with every part of your being.

I am not concerned with whether or not every user on this forum considers me "credible". You are allowed to consider me un-credible.

I never stated members here didn't use iOS devices but they also don't spew as much hate towards Apple as much as you.

It's not the build material though. Sure, there are materials that wouldn't bend in the same form factor, but the fact that it does bend easily isn't purely down to the Aluminium. I'm not too sure about it myself, but apparently the the position of the internal components/reinforcements that lead to the weak spot around the volume buttons. HTC has shown that you can make a tough aluminium phone. Other manufacturers have shown that you can make a weak plastic phone.

That last part is true, but bending is not aluminum's only weakness. The M8 is slippery and easily scratched. Not nearly as durable as they'd like you to believe.

I can attest to the slipperiness of the phone, dropped mine out of my pocket on a roller coaster. The M7 and the One S phones are the first phones I've had that were made out of aluminum and have a really good scratch resistant surface on them. On the S the blue anodized ring around the camera rubbed off the color, but my son has that now and still no noticeable scratches on the back (he doesn't use a case). Aside from dropping the M7 a couple of times on it's side on pavement, where there are some minute nicks, it's really held up well. There are no scratches on the back at all and I'm pretty hard on my phones (keys and change in the same pocket sometimes). This practice didn't hold up well on my older G1 and myTouch plastic android phones which had noticable scratches all over that plastic. I think the newer plastics are much better than those were. I could post pics if anyone cares, don't want to derail the thread too far.

The same goes for me. I'm pretty rough with my phone's, but my One has no scratches, only marks from being dropped on gravel. My iPad is the same. The main difference is that many plastic phones have user replaceable backs. So if you scratch or break it, you can just swap it out.

Well, I don't worry about this at all, actually. Even though I'm careful with my phones and use cases and tempered glass protectors (to say my phones have less of an opportunity to be bent or otherwise damaged) I'm rather confident that Apple's next iPhones will be braced internally or otherwise made more durable. I do hope this thread isn't still going until the iPhone 7 (unless Bendgate gets much worse as folks have their phones longer). At this point it just seems the horse has been pretty thoroughly beaten. What new and interesting is there to say?

I don't believe the front pocket bull shi*. If you have seen the videos of the kids bending then they are applying crazy amounts of pressure, a front pocket can Not do that.

Perhaps with some effort on the part of the owner it could?

It just seems totally, totally weird that anyone would even attempt to carry a phone as large as a 6+ in their front pocket but I imagine stranger things have happened.

I'd say that's where the majority of users keep their phone. I know I'd keep it there. It still fitted into my pocket quite easily. Now, the back pocket? I'd never do that, personally. That just sounds uncomfortable, and I don't see the point.

Like I alluded to, different strokes for different folks. I think size makes a difference in where a phone is carried and, to me, a micro tablet (or phablet) is too large for the front pocket. However, I'm not naive enough to believe that everyone does or even should feel the same. To be honest, I refused to even keep my S3 Mini, iPhone 4 or 5S in my front pocket. For some reason I guess I felt it might get lint, dirt, or meet a grain of sand or something. ...but I could just be being OCD.

So size does not matter in where a phone should be carried? One should carry a 6", 7", or 8" device around in the same way they would a 3", 4", or 5"? Again, I know I'm a bit OCD.
