Dude, I don't trust Korean manufactured products, especially those from Samsung. I will take any car or electric device made in Japan any day. I know LG is a Korean company too but I never buy LG products. Korean products suck.

I tell people they should never buy a Chinese designed and manufactured smartphone.

And the X becomes unresponsive in the cold: https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/story/852141001/

That doesn't leave a lot of options

Then what phone do you buy? What phone do you have right now?

I take it you've never seen or uses an 4k LG oled tv

LG has horrible upscalers. They have a great display, but that's a one trick pony like Samsung. If your 4K tv sucks at upscaling and you constantly run into motion blur then it's not worth it to have a great display. You can easily get a tv with an excellent display and upscaler. Motion blur during movies and sports is a no go. Those are the prime reasons for buying a tv.

Don't just go off what tech enthusiasts say. Read consumer reviews off Best Buy. The Koreans love to take shortcuts and I'm not sure if reliability matters to them.

Some companies know how to build a tv that can take a beating. Those companies aren't LG or Samsung.
So are you suggesting that we should buy Japanese designed phone with LED panel?

Media, internet, and YouTubers won't blow this up. It's like everyone scared to talk bad about Apple.

Looks like it's not just the 2 XL that has "horrendous" screen issues!

Every phone will have problems and even the amazing, magical iPhone X suffers.

Will the media blow this out of proportion, too? Will Vlad Savov write an article on The Verge about how Apple should just recall the X and move on? Ridiculous.

No they won't. Just like with the s7 which had a similar issue that didn't get blown out of proportion. Not sure why all the hate, at least apple replaced these devices and didn't essentially say "thats the screen you get, keep it" like the Googs did with their sub par LG panel.

The difference between the green line on the iPhone X and the terrible display on the Pixel 2 XL is that the green line issue on the iPhone X is really only affecting a few users while every single Pixel 2 XL has a terrible display.

This. Apple takes care of its customers. Google tells you "too bad" if you're having issues.

See this is when I know you are just hating on the phone cause this has proven to not be true. If you don't like the display that's fine but there are plenty of other people that think the display looks good. Hell I thought it looked good when I first saw it and still thinks it looks good. Btw users are reporting returning their X due to graininess and blue shifts. sound familiar? It's the nature of oled displays. Not all will be perfect but it doesn't make them all terrible.

lol. This comment is not true at all. Google addressed a number of the issues very fast with a software update. Those that asked to replace their phones for blue-shift mostly got theirs. You just seem to be hating on Google for some reason and putting Apple on some pedestal as a perfect entity.

While this is great and all this is the Pixel area. I get the point of the thread is to kind of say "look them as well" but discussing iPhone issues here is ehh.. we already allowed one thread about the X but I don't want too many since we have an iPhone site (iMore.com) for these type of discussions :).
