Just bought a Samsung Galaxy S5. Ran smart switch to import my contacts from my itunes synced backup. Backup imported 100% completely. Clicking on messages, it was taking forever to rebuild. After a while, it was sending out really old previously sent txts back to the same recipient. Im talking like lots of txts. Just sending them out on its own. I canceled the rebuild, erased the S5 and tried again. No Luck.

I was reading you have to disable iMessage before you transfer everything, which i didnt do, and no one at the AT&T store mentioned this. I re-opened my iphone, disabled iMessage, resynced with itunes, reimported to my S5 with smart switch, and it still did the same thing.

Ex girlfriends werent too happy....

What do I do?

So yesterday I called apple to have them manually disable my iMessage account, and to verify that it was done. I used smart switch to reimport everything successfully. When rebuilding my messages it made it to 99% without sending a text! Progress! unfortunately it hung on 99% overnight. I rebooted the phone. It started spweing texts out again. So I called Samsung (whose technical support is beyond worthless) and they couldnt even get me to a tech guy to help diagnose the issue. Back to square one.

So I figured out whats going on. It has nothing to do with iMessage. This morning the Galaxy S5 sent out about a dozen texts before I stopped it. Going back through my iphone and finding those exact texts, every single one was a text that at one point did not go through. Even if I resent it on my iphone and it went through, it looks like the S5 is sending out all texts that did not originally go through for whatever reason, regardless of their iMessage status. Over the course of many years, I guess this translates into hundreds if not thousands of texts that the S5 is trying to resend out.

Bam! Problem identified... I called Samsung back, ive been on hold for 13 minutes now...

Didnt really work out, right now its in airplane mode. If i take it out it spews out txts. Only a hundred went out before i caught it. I might just let it txt everyone and be done with it, that way its not my problem anymore.

I'm having the same issue. I thought the messages were done sending but it's starting all over again. Did Samsung offer any help? I don't want this to continue but I don't know how to stop the messages from updating (shows percent updating on status).
