Just wondering if Android/our phone supports IPv6 protocol? I know on my computers I have the DNS set to Googles Public Server, and I'd like to do the same with my optimus.

Anyway of using an app or something to edit the DNS settings? Does our phone/kernels support ipv6?

I think it does support IPv6, but you have to be on a network that also supports it (i.e. NOT Sprint). Also, just because your DNS is set to Google DNS servers doesn't mean you have IPv6 support. Your entire network including your ISP (and therefore modem) has to support IPv6 as well. Most likely your ISP is not IPv6-enabled.

I don't know if this helps, but at home my desktop runs on WOW (Wide Open West is my ISP)

Some things are blocked using OpenDNS (like youtube) and so on my Win7 system I enabled IPv6 on my router and set my comps DNS to Google's public DNS system. After that I usually can get on youtube no problem bypassing OpenDNS.

I'm trying to do the same on my phone's wifi connection. Pretty sure my wifi network at home supports ipv6.

Initial research is showing that Wide Open West does not support IPv6. You might be able to use IPv6 internally but not on your WAN. If you had to use standard IP addresses (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) to set Google DNS servers you are definitely not on IPv6.

Definitely worth contacting your ISP about though.
