Is 2.11.605.3 RUU Rootable?

DAS BAMF FOREVER.......Got it and loving it!
My very first attempt rooting.
Thanks everyone for the help!

Revolutionary works on the Gingerbread OTA and doesn't wipe data?

But flashing Das Bamf Forever, CM7, or any other ROM does wipe the data? If so, can I easily back it all up (programs, app settings and data, photos, docs, etc.) and restore after a ROM switch?

I believe you can use backup apps like titanium after you get root however I'm not sure how to use it.
Google, the App Market, and Amazon do a good job of restoring most apps. Google restores contacts as well as microsoft exchange if you use that. The only thing I really ended up setting up is the home screens which you would probably want to do anyway with this new ROM and its newer widgets.
Hope this helps.

All rooting does is move files around and gives you superuser permission.

When you flash roms, they want you to wipe data so before you install an new rom use titanium back up or some other program to back up stuff and then once you load the rom, use that program to get your stuff back

Glad to hear all is good for everyone with Revolutionary, Titanium Backup is a absolute must in my book, also make sure to do your Nandroid backup before you load and roms so you can flash back to stock before updating roms..

I personally have no experience with this RUU, but I'd be hesitant to install unless you can confirm the correct MD5. You do not want to brick your device! You could also try to re-download, just to make sure your file isn't corrupt.

I downloaded 3 times and verified the md5 and the conclusion has been the same, I noticed a few reported they used this installation but from the day released I have not been able to get a matched md5... I do not ever install any downloads that cant be verified..

I am trying to verify if I am the only one that noticed that this didn't match.

Are you already rooted? If so, may I ask why you want to install this?

I mean even if you want to run stock OS, why not just install this in Recovery?

I rooted yesterday using revolutionary. I worked perfectly. Try copy and paste entering the text strings. Also have the how to video in the background for reference.

I flashed the official ruu the other day, and i rooted last night using the revolutionary, everything went perfect, the only thing that caused an issue was i still had the .zip from that RUU still on my sdCARD and after revolutuionary went into ...waiting for fastboot.... my phone kept boot looping. after pulling the battery and using astro (wasnt rooted at the time so no root explorer) and deleting that .zip I went back and did it and everything went perfect. I followed this one youtube vid, let me see if I can find that vid. it was very helpful especially bc this is my first time rooting.. and good lord allmighty I cannot belive I didnt do it sooner...

EDIT- Link to youtube vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UK_CiB2SYk

Maybe soon ill move over to custom roms! :p

Welcome to the dark side;)
I can barely put my phone down since I rooted. Now I'm studying up on scenes and skins.
Don't know why the heck I waited so long to root.
My VM notifications now work thanks to the new patch.
Stock TB users have to be pissed off now!
