Is anyone else annoyed by the lollipop Phone icon?

I'm grateful Motorola got Lollipop out to us so fast, but I don't understand why they decided to change the stock Lollipop phone icon to the KitKat icon that doesn't match any of the other material design icons. Example:

Motorola's:

Google's:

Nitpicking and easy to change as I've already done, but it doesn't make sense that they'd go through all the trouble to change the material design icon to the mismatched KitKat icon.

The new icon looks more like the handset on some electronic telephones. The old one looked like a G handset - which is older than most people posting here.

I'm more annoyed by the sound bug, the GN Launcher lag and crashing bug, the Moto Voice crash bug and the interruption of access for non-PIN/PW locked devices (swipe to unlock only) which doesn't always take you to the home screens but, instead, to the 5.0 unlock screen (from the Moto unlock screen).

So, no, the shape of an icon is the least of my concerns.

Doesn't bother me, I rather like it.

How did you replace the icon again? Do you need to use another launcher (if so, which)? I'd like to retain the stock appearance.

The icons fine its the whole revised interface thats making me relearn how to use the stupid phone

Still not got it for Moto G2, but that sort of thing would drive me mad! They better fix that in a future update, preferably before my phone updates 😜

Really? Everything is still in the same place. The style of the UI is the only thing that changed. There isn't really much to relearn.

Don't bothered by new icon but not happy that old messenger is stuck around.

We do have the new icon in system apps. Here is the screen shot.
