Is anyone else having issues with apps, battery life and notifications after android 8.0.0 update?

[Android Central Question]

Since the last update on my phone, I no longer have notifications stay (like weather) in the notification area.
My battery doesn't even last a day, and it is optimized.
My apps on the screen has a white box around them.
I have gone into settings and updated all of these views to my liking, but the display wont update

And which phone would this be? Different models may handle updates differently due to changes made to the OS by the manufacturer.
