Is anyone else on Verizon dropping down to 1X???

This has actually been happening to me intermittently since Christmas or so....but it's gotten MUCH worse over the past 4-6 weeks. I started having this issue on the stock Froyo (unrooted, completely stock). I actually flashed the leaked TBH Gingerblur from a month or so ago just to see if it made a difference (it didn't).

I have tried everything---*228 1 and 2, swapping batteries, removing devices from my home & office that may give off RF interference etc. None of the other phones in the household or office have this issue--just my DX. I am in Charlotte NC, btw.

My D/X has had the issue since 9-1-10. No one @ Motorola or Verizon has been able to solve it. Only occurs inside buildings. Wifi is the only solution. Welcome to a very large club.

This happens to me periodically throughout the day. Odd thing is that while this is happening to my DroidX, my wife, in the same room, with her own DroidX, is still getting 3G.

Differences: I'm rooted and i'm using a slip-on gel case.

Ditto for the 1X problem in the Washington, DC area. I wondered why my battery was down to 40-50% by 2pm with minimal use (as recent as yesterday). I started to notice the 1X on my drive time home at the beginning of the week when I wanted to listen to podcasts. That kind of explains why my phone was so hot when I would drop it in my pocket. My initial thought was whether it had something to do with network upgrades and the 4G issue last week. Sounds like many others suspect the same cause.

@Pixelsyndicate- Interesting about the gel case.. But, in my instance, both my husband and I are using gel cases, and my phone has had the 1X problem but his has not. So probably not related.

After calling Verizon they seemed to have fixed something because I have been okay on 3G all day! Very cool!

Know what you mean! I was trying to download something a couple days ago and 1X felt like I was using a device from the Stone Age!! ha

Been having the same issue on my D2G for a couple weeks now in Dayton OH. 1X, data locking up constantly, horrible battery. Co-worker having same issues as well.

Very sudden about 2 weeks or so ago. Something is definitely wrong.

Then again, could it be Verizon giving people with custom ROMs bottom billing? Maybe if it's not stock, they figure you might deserve less signal.....

Wouldn't be it... wouldn't have a way to detect it.
Even if they did, mine and my wife's DXs are both stock (I have rooted mine is all, hers is as it came out of box) and both have the 1x happening..

Im having a problem where my Data Connection will freeze to the point i have to reset the connection in order for anything to work. Sometimes I will drop down to 1X, but most times i will have to data at all. I just called Verizon and they think the problem is phone related...

Does anyone else have this data connection freeze that i do?

Actually had that on one DX and the Xoom both last night. At the same time both devices locked up.. both were browsing the web using the default browsers but on different unrelated sites. Had to reboot both. First time that has happened here... that was around midnight PDT here in California.

my husband and i went to chicago two fridays ago, and we both use foursquare...my rooted OG droid kept dropping 3G, and GPS and went from a full charge to 15% in less than an hour, his Droid X was as usual, we got back home to eastern iowa, and my phone kept doing the same thing(used to be able to get at least a full day out of a single charge on my OG) so i unrooted and did a warranty claim, and then his X started doing the same thing, so he did a warranty claim as well. got our replacement phones, and i re-rooted and my OG is just fine, but his X is still doing the same thing...he keeps getting the message "we've got you at _________ but your phone thinks you're too far away" and when he goes to google maps the marker is at the center of a blue circle with "accurate to within 3000 meters" below it, when usually its accurate to within maybe 20 meters at most...

Im also having strange issues with aGPS and Latitude. Accuracy as bad as 25 or more miles in the greater Phoenix area.

I'm back home in Atlanta and like magic, the 1X issue is gone. On 3G with 4 bars. Now I wonder what all that deep draining has done to my battery. Hopefully it helped recondition it, but we'll see.

Mine it's always on 3G, here in the San Bernardino County area and the Los Angeles County area....except...inside of my house...which I call "Temple of Doom for all cell carriers" (I had Metro PCS, T-Mobile and now Verizon)

Only in my house I get no bars and half of the time 1x...it's sad...

I am amazed -- it appears to have been fixed in our area! Been stable on 3G with all bars for the past few days!!!

However, the GPS is another story... Weatherbug frequently gives me the "Failed to update location" error because GPS frequently can't find the location. :/ I don't think that was related to the 3G/1X issue though... (or was it?)
