is anyone even bothering with a screen protector?

i ordered a screen protector from ebay but it turned out to be the non-rigid semi-flex kind which just doesn't feel well for touchscreens. i'm wondering whether our gorilla-glass screen is good enough as-is to not worry about it, and i haven't seen much threads on screen protectors (compared to my old BB forums where they were like 1/3 of the posts). what's everyone else doing?

I went with the anti-glare/anti-fingerprint shield from AT&T and it's crap. I mean, protection wise it is probably fine, but it makes the screen look pixelated and practically unreadable in daylight. I'll be switching to a clear protector, like the Invisible Shield ASAP.

I'm waiting for the Invisible Shield. Since the Atrix release was pushed up a few weeks Zagg has not released one yet.

I think I'm going to hold off on a screen protector. The Gorilla Glass is pretty good. I had to use one on my N1 to help alleviate the bad fingerprint smearing it suffered from. But The Atrix seems more a bit more resistant to the fingerprint buildup.

I'll get a screen protector when companies start selling. As for now, I'm liking the phone naked and if I put it in my pocket, nothing else is in there.

No need for a protector when your rocking gorilla glass  plus IMO they take away from the glow of the display .

i used to have the at&t antiglare screen protector, but it makes the phone less responsive to my touch. so i just carry my old BB microfiber cloth and wrap the screen around it when its in my pocket. :D

still waiting on Zagg.........still haven't decided if I want to put the otterbox one on it temporarily or not.

I'm using the AT&T one anti-glare. To me I just hate the "drag" that normal screens have. Especially if you're sweaty at all or, like now, in wintertime your finger tips are just a bit moist from the snow and such...you can feel a drag on the screen. With the anti-glare protectors it glides like butter.

Ya, it does degrade the clarity of the screen...but the feel of the touchscreen makes it worth it to me.

I'd recommend getting a screen protector or invisible shield/bse. The gorilla glass can still be stratched if you happen to drop your phone. How do I know...well my atrix fell out of my jacket pocket no more than a foot off the ground and it just happened to landed on the glass. I looked at the glass and I have a small 2mm long stratch in the glass. You can only see it when the display is off and in certain angles.

a screen protector on this phone is a sin. that's so 2009. you guys probably used pocket protectors in school, too.

And your parents probably still pay your bills too.

Some of us prefer to protect our investment. Deal with it.

The Gorilla glass is quite scratch resistant and the screen has an oleophobic coating to resist oily fingerprints. I would never put a protector on this screen as it will only reduce its performance. JMO :)

moral of story: if you want to be a square like this bitter old dude, get a screen protector. lol jesus.

I'm neither bitter, nor old. I was just returning your 'kindness' with similar reception since you were out there taking pot shots at people without offering any real insight or actual value to the conversation at hand.

Enjoy your yoohoo and daddy's credit card :D

YouTube - Gorilla Glass Scratch Test

this video has some interesting results about what can still happen to gorilla glass. Sure, its a vid by Zagg, but there's no denying the result.
But yeah, if you really need the performance, then go naked.

I have used Power Support screen protectors on iPhones and love them. They have the smoothest surface I have seen with no visible texture on the plastic film, cling statically to the screen without any adhesives and are washable! I used it for 2yrs on my iPhone 3G and never even noticed that there was actually a screen protector between my finger tip and glass.
Is there something like this for Atrix?
