Welcome to Android Central.

Fast charging is never good for a battery. As much as it is sold as a feature on some phones it will decrease the life of a battery. Thanks.

It could create more heat than a slower charging rate, and heat is detrimental to the life of a battery. However, we have had fast charging phones for a while now, if we were to see shortened lifespans, we would be seeing them by now.

Because batteries now have longer lifespans. So we're not really going to notice it.

Hmm, not going to be able to agree with that. Two years give or take, and non-removable I want to be as nice as possible to phone battery. Slow is good!
The 2 years give or take was pegged a few years ago when the average battery lifespan was around 500 cycles, which at once a day charge is almost 2 years. Recent batteries sold commercially have 2000-10000 cycles on average based on a study last 2012, depending on load cycle practice used. The highest cycle count on batteries recorded last year was 200,000 cycles if I remembee correctly. I was a gold ion battery though. The highest for lithium ion was 60000 cycles.

Horsesh*t. It's not the speed of the charging that hurts batteries. It's overcharging (charging after battery reaches 100%) and running your device too hot, for too long. Those are the 2 most common battery life killers. Set your apps/widgets/notifications on your phone to warn your device is fully charged, so you know to unplug it to avoid overcharging. Also do not plug it in before bed (phone will hit full charge before the night is even half over) Instead, charge up BEFORE bedtime. Then plug in while you get ready in the morning, if you need battery level higher by the time you leave. Also, use apps/widgets/notifications to warn you if internal temperature is getting too high. I always try to make sure my smartphone runs well under 100°F.

First I will ask you politely to tone it down please. There is no need to use fowl language.

Secondly I stand by my response. There is much debate on this subject. Does the average person have time to monitor their battery temperature? No. The great majority of people just want their phone to charge. They look at the percentage charged and that is the extent of what they care about. Fast charging will heat up a battery. Will that heat wear on a battery over time? Yes. So I stand by my post.

Thanks.
