Is having 4.3" of screen real estate worth the extra bulk?

4.3 is spot on for me my wife has my old Hero when she is having issues I have to spend time fixing things on that phone. The screen size on the Hero is just to small for me to be comfortable even just for a little while. I cant see me using a smaller screen.

Perfect size for an on-screen keyboard!

I think that it is perfect for a keyboard in portrait mode, but it is a tad too big in landscape mode. But the screen is amazing for watching videos. Also viewing web pages and playing games is better on the bigger screen.

i actually wish it was the same size as the dell streak..

with the 5 inchs...

look at how it compares....

I couldn't vote, because none of the options really fit.

The 4.3" screen on the Evo makes it by far the funnest, and best phone to use at home and "play" with that I've ever seen or used.

The 4.3" screen on the Evo makes it the most uncomfortable phone to try to hold against your ear I've ever used. I use the phone a lot. I hate Bluetooth for calls. I would love to be able to have that big screen to check mail and messages while out, but I had to hold on to my Hero (that sounds like a song) for that.

i always use the headset to talk on all my smartphones. i get tired of holding the phone up to my ear. i also like to look at the display as i talk. i also don't like getting facial oil on the display. lastly - it lowers the radiation going to my head!

My Favorite Come back at an Iphone

Iphone User - Yea thats too big

Me - Thx

Will always be my favorite part of having this phone...

The Screen size is just perfect... Anything bigger just wouldnt fit in my front pocket anything smaller I would be aggravated *and Most know what happens when i get aggravated*

I love the 4.3! Screen on my X. To me this is just logical, I nver could understand why people were so opposed.to the size when they first came out. It makes reading much easier in the eyes, it makes typing more comfortable, and the devices are incredibly thin so as to add very little added bulk. I think society has gotten so used to the 'make it smaller' trend with cell phones that sometimes people forget why. Just because you can shrink a piece of hardware doesn't mean you should. I crack up when I see the cell huge cell phones of old that no one batted an eye at because it was considered normal.

Came from an Iphone 3G. Had to go to it the other day to check on information I had not moved and was frustrated at how the small the screen was now.

who would buy a 5" EVO (Dell Streak size) vs. a 4.3" EVO all other things being equal??? i'd have to hold it in my hand and put it in my pocket to be sure but i'd consider it.

I am always hearing "yeah that EVO is a cool phone but it is way too big"!

After having my EVO for over a month now, I can truly say I love the size. In fact, I dont think I will own a phone smaller than 4.3" moving forward.

As EVO owners does the size of the phone bother you in terms of pocketability?

The people that say things like that don't own an EVO. And if they do, they aren't using the phone to its full potential. The whole reason for owning a device with a large screen is to take advantage of that large screen.

That's like saying that a 70" HDTV is "too big". It may be, if you live in a studio apartment with no room to sit back and enjoy the view, but to most reasonable people, their movies look better on a large screen.

Interaction with a touchscreen is better with a larger screen. I would argue that a 4" to 4.3" screen is just about the sweet spot. I don't have trouble pocketing my EVO. My ex-wife has an EVO and she always hated big phones (she always thought small and cute was the way to go), but she loves her EVO. There is obviously a reason for that.

Everyone has their personal preferences, but in my opinion the EVO is not too big. It's just right (for a touchscreen-only phone).

i would..

but after holding it and stuff like u suggested...

I've held the Streak. For me it's just way too big to be used as a phone. It looks ridiculous when held to your head. And depending on what type of jeans or pants you wear, you're SOL. 4.3 seems to be perfect. I just want to add that it's not just the screen size, it's the overall size of the phone. People are forgetting that. The Evo and the Galaxy S phones are almost identical in overall size except the Evo has the screen stretched to cover most of the front to 4.3 whereas Samsung kept it at 4.0 inches. 4.3 inch screen is PERFECT. If it was possible to keep the same physical size of the phone and stretch it to I dunno 4.5 or something then ya that'll be cool. But the overall size of the phone is perfect, especially since htc was smart and stretched the screen to 4.3 instead of throwing a 4.0 inch screen.

My standard response to my self righteous iPhone buddies is 'oh, what a cute little thing'. ;-)

The Evo is like a 65" flat screen TV. It looks large for few days and then everything else seems to be small.

I can't stand using my ipod touch after getting my evo. I over reach and completely miss the screen lol. 4.3" is the perfect sized screen. I'm only 5' 4" and the evo has no problems fitting in my pocket.

I have had a EVO since launch day. If at that time they had a 3.7 inch option, i think i would have taken it. But having lived with it for 5 months, I love it. I cannot and will not go back to a smaller screen. All you have to do is play with the phone you had b4 the EVO and you will be convinced.

Yeah, when I play with my old Pre, or son #2's Hero (or gawd help me, son #1's Pixi), I realize that I can't go back. I could do a 4" screen, I suppose, but certainly nothing smaller.

When I try to help my wife with her Intercept I keep mumbling that it has a mighty small screen - and those tiny icons...

I don't think I could go back to a smaller screen.
