Is it impossible to use voice commands from a password or code-locked screen?

You have to fish your phone out of your pocket in order to use s-voice or google now to make a phone call. At that point it's easier and faster to use your finger.

I don't remember exactly how fast - but significant. Try it for a day and see if it works for you.

I want to say it ate like 40% or so within a few hours. The issue is always having microphone listening for the wake command - burns a lot of juice.

I'm not so sure about this. I've had the wake up command on for a couple weeks and haven't noticed any difference in battery life

I don't have that problem. I can call with the phone in my pocket with no physical interaction at all.

How do you do it? Don't you have a problem with pocket dialing terminating the process? Is it a third party app? Just tried google now--it cut out in the middle of it's instruction about saying ok or cancel to complete the call. Must have pocket dialed cancel. I had a little better success on the pocket dialing front with s-voice, but with the new update, you have to say hi galaxy each time you want a voice command prompt, makes it basically unusable.

What I do is in my pocket say "Hi Galaxy" then say " call xxx". It calls that number then after the call is over and the other person hangs up, it brings me back to the s-voice app. I say "Hi Galaxy" again then say "call xxx". Rinse and repeat.

Yes, you have to say "Hi Galaxy" to initiate a new voice command.

On my Note 3, I have to long-press earphone button (to wake s-voice), "hi galaxy" (to get a beep), "call ___", "hi galaxy" (to get another beep), "yes" (to confirm call). Meanwhile the screen goes on, so pocket dialing that microphone button or the settings or back button will usually kill this process before it's done.
