Is it me or Verizon losing data?

I think mapping applications are dependant on a network connection as well as satellites. So I would guess that the current network issues could impact navigation too.

O.K., I think mine is at least in part a hardware issue. I changed out to my other extended battery back, and I pressed on the back where the antennas are (top right hand side of the phone as you face the phone), got a 4G/LTE symbol, then ran a speed test - almost 22 down, over 4 up. If I squeeze and let up on the top corner of the phone, I can see the speed fluctuate more widely than usual in a speed test. Time for a call, and maybe an Asurion claim. I can't figure out what the root cause is, because the phone has not been seriously dropped, stepped on, etc.

EDIT: I "tweaked" the antenna connectors on the phone, getting them out a little more. Seems to have made a difference in the reliability of the connections.

Last week was it, had enough.
Called Verizon and they know nothing.Typical.
They are sending me a new Sim card, should have it today and will update .

I don't think this will make you feel any better but Lisle/Naperville has been awful for all of us. It's not just you.

Haven't seen much posted on this issue lately, but thought I'd throw in a little bit more info from my experience lately.

Was still occasionally having the issue the end of June, then went to Denver, CO the first week of July and did NOT have any data drop issues for the entire week I was there! Now back at home the last week and again seeing occasional data drops with this morning being really bad (LTE constantly dropping in and out and couldn't get 3G at all when setting phone to CDMA only, not even 1x). So powered down, pulled the battery and SIM for five minutes and so far all is back to normal. All of this on the older software (2.11.605.9) from back in Dec. 2011. Also this includes a new standard battery door (LTE antenna is in the door). Otherwise no other changes to the phone over that time period and it works normally otherwise. Guess it could be the phone, but then why no issues for the week in Denver? Gotta be the network. Just wish they'd fix it. I'm usually a very patient person, but this morning was extremely aggravating. :(

Still hit or miss around Atlanta. I just toggle in and out of airplane mode and I usually get back 3g or 4g,depending on how I have it set. Easier and quicker than powering down & messing w/ battery & sim card.
Still annoying though.

Still hit or miss around Atlanta...Still annoying

Same here, it is weird and intermittent. South of Atlanta this AM, signal would drop out completely anytime I hit something needing data (Google Maps Traffic, Play Store). Home, NE of Atlanta and it is rock solid in spite of the thunderstorms.

I am in Greenville SC and have been having the same issues. I called Verizon enough that they said they would send a trouble ticket on it. On July 10th I got an email from them the said: "The ticket we filed for your data problem came back and the network engineers had to reset some of the equipment at the tower that was causing the problem" It does seem to be better now than it was. I have lost connection a couple of times but not as often and for not as long as before. Since other phones other than just the TB are having the same issue -it would have to be a network thing instead of a TB radio thing. (I would think)

All kinds of data drops near western suburbs of Detroit yesterday and this AM. Having better luck with crappy hotel wireless right now. grrrr

Las Vegas here and I've been having this issue for a long time now since around Xmas. I figured there was maintenance going on back then. So I tried the patient route. Work had me so busy with 12 plus hour days so didn't really keep an eye on it. But I'm on summer vacation since June 7th and was going to NYC to visit family in june and low and behold the issue was still there. So I went to the corp store they know me well there cause I can't deal the the over the phone reps cause half the time they are clueless. Anyway I get there and the rep that usually helps me is there and asks me how I'm liking my tbolt. I told him after the last fiasco with my storm2 I loved it till recently with connection problems. So I tell him what's going on he looks at the phone ( mind you I hadn't rooted yet) and comes across my porn I knew he did cause he turned bright red and couldn't help but to laugh. So when he's done he says lets replace the sim card and that part of the issues was the amount of texts I had on the phone and needed to clear them. I don't delete my texts due to backstabbing co workers and use them when needed. So he showed me an app for them which I installed, backed them up and proceeded with the sim replacement. It seemed to help with all the text gone and new sim card I was getting good 4g again steady. I was a happy camper cause now I didn't have to worry while in NYC.

But sure enough a couple days later the friggen problem was back. Went back to the store and he knew right off the bat from my expression the problem was back and before I could say anything he asked same problem? I told him yes but now even worse. So he looked again and said the only thing he could think of was to get a replacement unit. I was like no way bro you know full well how I feel about that ecpecially after what i went through with the storm 27 replacements before they gave up and gave me a new phone all together. I paid for a new phone that works not a referb. And considering they charge 100 to do that that's even worse. He said it would be free of charge but I told him I'd have to think about it.

I really dread having to go through the replacement bs again especially for a refurb. But with this problem still very consistent I might just have too /sigh. But I truely believe the problem is both the tbolt and Verizon not working properly since the last update. I thought after rooting it would have helped but it it really hasn't. It's helped in a lot of other ways but just not with the connection issues. Weird part is I live 2 blocks from one of their towers and always had exceptional connections. With outages in diff areas of town which was normal In Las Vegas valley. It also makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the towers here now neededing maintenance. Used to see someone at least once a week on them tweaking but since 4g not once have I seen anyone.

Has anyone heard anything from Verizon's end saying they now know of an issue? My store and the phone reps still saying they know of no issues. Which I find both funny and ironic since I'm one of there customers that reported an issue way back and I'm sure others here have as well.

Same here with toggling mobile data or airplane mode. But yesterday morning it didn't help and I had to resort to the battery and SIM pull. Since then only had a couple data drops, until the next time it decides to start acting up.

But I truely believe the problem is both the tbolt and Verizon not working properly since the last update.

It can't be the latest software update as I'm still having the problem since flashing back to the 2.11.605.9 version from Dec. 2011. Also, the issue is affecting other Verizon phones (from reading other areas of the forum), so it would appear the issue is the network. But of course Verizon denies that. It seems too intermittent for them to identify, so they default to it's a problem with the phone. In some cases that's probably true, but overall I strongly believe the evidence really points to the network. As I posted earlier in the thread, I suspect it has something to do with their LTE authentication system. See the link below for more info:

This Is Why Your Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Or Other 4G LTE VZW Phone) Is Losing Its Data Connection

Doesn't seem to be an issue when I force it to 3G. Still waiting on my third replacement. My gf's rezound has the same issue.

FYI. All good here around central AL since last Friday (7-13-12, after a battery and SIM pull). Other than a couple drops (nothing out of the ordinary) LTE is locked on and it even switches to 3G when selecting CDMA only (got nothing previously). Also still consistently pulling almost 20MB down, 16MB up on LTE. Knock on wood, hopefully this means things are fixed with this latest round of LTE updates set to go live tomorrow (see below). :::crossing fingers:::!!! :)
