Is it my ROM?

So right now I'm running GING3RTH3RORY ROM V6.2, also I have run the new radio that Chingy released, the .627 radio, and right now back to MR2.5 radio.

The first issue is that my battery is draining at an alarming rate, just sitting stand-by in my pocket for 20 minutes it will drop 20%. Also it seems to take forever for a website to pull up or to download an app. For instance the phone pauses as though it wants to think about it. I tried switching radios and using them for a couple days but I don't have a charger handy 24/7 so I need to figure something out quick. Could it be my ROM?

It could be any number of things... but you are the main person to trouble shot this issue... changing Radio's is a good start... then if that doesn't work then changing ROMs... if that doesn't work you need to look at what apps you have running in either Widget's on your screens, or apps that might be running or sync'ing in the background.

It could be your ROM, but it sounds like it might be signal quality in area is diminished the last few days or whatever it is. You could put the phone in airplane mode for like an hour and see what kind of drain you get wihout cell signal, if you want to test it.

Also, sometimes roms work great for two weeks then start acting funny, so a clean installation of the same or a different ROM might help.

Are you in a 4G area? Is there a lot of 3g handoff? Other things to consider.

Thanks for the quick responce, I am in a 4G area and "usually" I get a fairly good signal. I may try the airplane mode to see if its the radio or not, but in th meantime I'm downloading another ROM.

I live in a 4g area, and sometimes my battery drains like crazy for no reason. I do use sense roms, which use alot of power on their own, but in general i dont think it accounts for the kind of serious drain that would run your battery out in under 5 hrs.

Typically i think it's a problem of signal quality, bc the thunderbolt radios do some funny stuff like boosting signal to get better reception when the signal itself is weak. It's also possible that verizon is working on your towers or something on that particular day. Finding the radio that works best with your phone should help some, but i think there are just some days where there's almost nothing you could do except maybe put the phone in CDMA only mode (this is something else you could try if airplane mode is successful/ or your new Rom doesn't produce better results).

Wildman how long do you get on a regular charge?

I usually use extended battery and I have done 12 Hours of tethering, web, calls and texting heavily and ended at about 45% still left.. Haven't used stock battery yet..

Sounds like I need to get the extended battery, I've been using the same battery ever since I got the phone (the day it came out) because I never really wanted to spend the $50 on it.

I recently download the gingerities 3D ROM from Chingy and also am using that new radio, the same setup as wildman (thanks for that). So I will see how it pans out with my battery.

Def not the ROM... i used it for a few days,,, sounds like you have some accounts syncing to often in the backround. you can also try '2x battery' by sam lu from the app market, its is amazing. when your screen turns off the app automatically stops mobile data and only refreshes once every 15 mins (with the free version) you can still receive calls and texts at any time. seriously, the app is amazing. I easily get over 24 hrs on a charge. but I also am on a AOSP rom and have everything synced to manual or as far apart as possible.. good luck and let us know if everything works out...

I tried the new Bamf 4.9 and it was literally eating my battery alive, and I couldn't control it... i try to stay away from sense, but to each their own ;)

Thanks Ssethv, I haven't heard of that app yet, so I'll give it a try.
