Is it selfish to not want anyone else to get the 2.1 update?

Dunno if anyone else feels this way too but I can't help feeling that only N1 owners should get the latest and greatest updates since we're the ones carrying the flagship device torch...

It's like buying a Toyota Prius for $23,000 and then Toyota coming out with a hybrid kit for any car for free which seems to cheapen the N1 experience...

I am gonna try to keep away from the fire's that you will incite with this post.

It will always be one step ahead anyway but yeah ill stay away from this fire as well

Personally I could care less what anyone else has on their phone, but for the record MANY users of other phones have software newer that what's available on the stock nexus rom. If you depend on others to release your software you will always remain one step behind.

But whatever makes you feel good I guess.

I oppose this and here's why. I bought the Hero, before the N1 was out, and then the N1 comes out and the Hero gets completely ignored as far as firmware goes. Blame Sprint? Maybe, but I'm with gbhil on this one, once I stopped waiting for others (last night) I'm much happier. And my Hero now does more than the N1 stock. Werd.

Oh, and the EVO 4G will be the new flagship device soon, and I wouldn't be surprised in 6 months when the N1 is a blip on the radar. I love and hate that about technology these days... Seriously not flaming though, just sayin.

I don't understand why you think that others should not get software upgrades like the Nexus One owners? If you but a phone, you should be privy to upgrades like anyone else. What makes the Nexus One so special? What happens when the Nexus One is no longer the flagship device? Would you still believe the same thing?

wow.... this has the potential to get real ugly, real fast.

Yea seriously this could be an extremely ugly thread. I personally hope every android device out now and ones coming out all get 2.1 at some point. If one device runs 1.5 one runs 1.6 another 2.0 and only the N1 runs 2.1 that kind of OS fragmentation could kill or seriously cripple an OS and I dont think any of us want that to happen to android do we? OS unity...only way to go lol.

Good point. When it comes to new technology, people should just understand that anything new (latest and greatest) that they get will be new for two to three months. That's it.

Soon after a gadget is released another one that is a whole lot better will be released.

True, but in the end, if you're happy with the device, isn't that all that matters?

The N1 will always be a step ahead of any Android phone as new releases come out. I am a fan of Android and am hoping all phones get the latest and greatest OS that each individual phone can handle...

Always is a big word.

The N1's power is yawnable at best.

The Evo will blow it out of the water, and 3 months from then another one will.

Anywho, I see this thread getting locked real quick

I have a feeling that once the N1 becomes a thing of the past, you won't be saying this. The N1 will get replaced sometime down the line. Technology changes so fast. One day something is the flagship device, next thing you know it's completely off the radar. And IMO, all the android devices should get the updates not just the newer ones.

Might blow it out of the water now but when the N1 gets the nest OS update EVO owners will be envying N1 owners because they will have to wait months for their next update. The EVO is a great device but being supported by Sprint rather than Google directly is an enormous handicap.

Only if the software update for the N1 brings HDMI out, a front facing camera, and 8 MP camera on the back, 4G connectivity, doubles the memory, adds API's for video chat, HQ youtube streaming and fixes the soft buttons.

Now yall have something to flame about :)

I sure hope you put on your asbestos suit on before posting this because you are flame bait...

Oh and the N1 is the flagship device because it will be the first device to get new updates, not because it has the best specs because honestly that's not gonna be the case for long...
