Is it still worth buying a Nexus 4?

I just ordered mine tonight. I hope it gets here soon.

Was in the same boat last week.

Finally decided that seeming how it would save $50 a month I would just consider it as a transitional phone as these are very immature products in terms of development. Just settled for the 8GB (holds more than enough apps) then at the end of the year, it owes me nothing and I can get what I want, keep it as a backup, sell it, gift it...

Will still get me in the fast lane for Key Lime pie in May.

Ordered it Tuesday got it Thursday. Mediocre camera, crappy external speaker but smooth as butter, even smoother than I expected.

Splurged for the Orb but so far that has backfired because I got a slipper (no drops luckily-RMA time for it). With a glass back they should have offered the LG mats as well.

But as of right now, the super shiny ridiculously sexy unfixable HTC One Taiwan dream phone that isn't quite available yet at $649 probably works out to the same price as my N4 and future N5.

Ok, thank you so much for the help guys! :)

I ordered a Nexus 4 earlier today and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival; the GS4 just doesn't do it for me and the One is probably too overpriced considering there isn't too much of a difference in specs, plus the updates, vanilla android etc that the N4 has.

Yes yes and yes. The N4 is the first android phone that was as smooth feeling as my iPhones.

Its not just smooth feeling, its better as the form factor of the phone itself does not resemble the boxy shape of an iphone. The Nexus 4 feels great in the hand.

No, smooth as in speed.
And no again the N4's build quality still isn't as good as the iPhone 5.

About that 1 drop on my mates iPhone 5 abs the back is pushed in and the screen has risen out the top corner.... Great build quality.

I'm talking about feel/looks of the device not durability.
And besides the N4 wouldn't have survived either, at least only the screen was pushed up.

The Nexus4 may not have the best specs today, but the huge advantages for me are:

- No carrier contract. With VZW changing their upgrade cycle to a full 24 months, this is huge for me as I can upgrade or cancel when ever I want.
- Low cost off contract phone with decient specs.
- Inexpensive month to month plans. Most cap your high speed data usage, but looking at my current usage over the last 6 months, I average well less than 2GB of data per month
- Timely updates!
- Freedom is a huge benefit

I'm really hoping that when the Nexus5 comes out they keep the same pricing model. My wifes contract is almost up, and we just got her the Nexus4 (Testing it out now). At the end of the year when my contract expires I hope to get the Nexux5.

I am interested in the Nexus 4, but with rumours of a Nexus 5 coming out in May (either then or in November - 1 year cycle), as well as the recent releases of devices such as the S4, HTC One, Xperia Z and so on, is it still a good deal?

I currently have an iPhone 4S and will be looking to upgrade shortly.

I would like to think that the N4 represents a new standard of high end products and low low prices are here to stay, but until the new Nexus is released with similar pricing, I wouldn't count on it. Looks like you will be waiting until the end of the year to find out though.
