wanna take the time to thank you for your suggestion,it took like 10 trys but it finally worked. thanks

I got mine the first day it came out (I believe June 25th) and still no JB update. =( Going to try the Framework trick a few times at work today. Oh, and in Kansas City, MO.

Got the update OTA from Sprint on Monday morning here in Salt Lake City. Only took a few minutes to run, succeeded on first try. Battery life was not great on day 1, but today it's at 89% after 4 hours (no phone calls yet today). Before JB, I was averaging 4-5 percent battery per hour. Yesterday was about twice that, but today seems at least as good as before. Nicely done, Sprint!

I got mine, I'm in Philadelphia, I woke up for work and there it was! I like the Google now but once I sit down and have some breakfast I'll be able to see all the other features

I'm jealous I'm in philly I got nothing, maybe because I'm rooted

The last minor OTA update got to my wife's phone a full week before mine, naturally we are in the same city. Which was still a good week from when the roll out started. Sprint doesn't want to so flood their bandwidth with updates pushing out that no one else can use their phones for regular data uses. it could take 2+ weeks for everyone to get their update. Think I'm going to dig up a micro sdhc card and upgrade manually.

Edit: Just finished updating per the instructions in post #2 of: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-galaxy-s-iii/218901-your-way-update.html

My guess is the Google framework trick is a coincidence... I've been trying this 15 times a day on my daughter's phone since Friday (that's 60 times for those counting) and still nothing. It's getting to the point that she just wants dad to leave her phone alone.

If it makes you feel better keep doing it. It may trigger the update after it's sent to you but it won't make it come if it hasn't been sent to your phone. Otherwise my daughter's phone would have it by now.

Yeah, I doubt the Google Framework thing matters (maybe in a few edge cases but not for most). I think it is more of Sprint saying 'we don't want to use more than 5% of our bandwidth pushing OTA updates. Take the user base, divide by 20 and push one group per day.'

Like I said, I went ahead and manually updated with your instructions.

I don't know if it makes any difference but the update was pushed to my phone via WiFi. I only got my GS3 a few days ago and I live in the boonies, so it may just be a luck of the draw when the update is pushed.

It is luck of the draw. My wife got it early yesterday morning. And i did not. So i just flashed sonics jelly bean. :)

tried the Google Framework Services clear trick and it worked on the 7th time....It works, just requires patience.

Go to settings, go to Application Manager, select "All" at the top, scroll down to "Google Services Framework", select "clear data", hit OK, select "force restart", hit OK, go back to settings, select "system update", select "update Samsung software", hit "check now".

Repeat from beginning if it doesn't work.

Took me about 10 times, but it worked!

wheres this force restart button
only see the force disable or something

I haven't posted here in ages but I had to log in just to give a thank you for the suggestion about Google Services Framework. I thought there was no possible way in hell that could work but for me it worked on the second try. MANY THANKS!

If we do the manual update will it erase our apps/contacts or anything else .... or will it be just the same as waiting for the OTA.

(I've done these a few times in the past on my old phones and just don't remember now)

No it won't wipe your phone. All your data will be fine. It will be like waiting for OTA, except, you won't be waiting.

Battery life after update.....
My battery life was dropping like a stone after the update. I mean terrible.
I was concerned because Sandy was getting ready to hit, and I wanted phone in case of power outage.
I thought, what the heck? Do a factory reset, go back to ICS. I had everything backed up with GO Backup.
Did the factory reset through recovery mode.
GO Backup did it's thing and restored everything. (except passwords, had to log in to apps)
And, I was on 4.1.1.
Battery life is now excellent.

14 hrs. on battery and it's at 87 %.
Granted, I have hardly touched it all day because I was called into work for storm damage clean up, but I am impressed.
That is better performance than I was getting on ICS.
