Is my Fingerprint Lock broke?

I just bought my Note 5 but when I set Fingerprint Lock in settings and have it set as default lock setting it doesn't show up when I turn the phone on. Just says please swipe. Not asking for Fingerprint. I checked trusted devices and all that is turned off. Am I simply missing something or do I need to return the phone?

Do you have the lock time set to immediately? If it's set to longer it won't lock till that time has passed.
