Is Ok Google dead on S8 & S8+?

I've been told by Samsung tech support on three different occasions and once by Verizon that Ok Google will no longer be a feature on S8 &S8+ because they now "have" Bixby. Has anyone else heard that?
UPDATE

fix for the OK Google issue on S8 & S8+ is to have the software re-flashed by Samsung or one of their retailers such as Best Buy. Other than rooting the device, there is nothing that can be done at the consumer level nor with tech support assistance that will resolve the issue.

Except Samsung doesn't have Bixby yet, so that's a bunch of grade A BS

Mine hasn't worked since about a week after the release date. I keep making Verizon exchange them. I'm on my third one and everybody one of them had the same issue.

Are you trying to use it from the AOD? I don't think that works. I just tried mine. Works from anywhere except when AOD is on. Saying OK Google doesn't nothing. I honestly don't care. I hardly use the Ok Google command.

That's because customer care is clueless and they have zero idea about the device.

I can't see how Samsung can kill "OK Google". My understanding is that if you want to run the Google OS you have to accept the apps.

OK Google works on my device and I've had several security updates already. I rarely use it but I definitely use it over Bixby at this point. Bixby is completely worthless without voice commands. I seriously don't get why anyone would use it in the state that it's in. Lol

I don't use aod

I use both Google Assistant and Bixby, both with voice. The only problem I have had is if the phone hears something close to "Hi Bixby" or "Bixby" it will launch. I had the same thing happen with Google Assistant when I was streaming a show and a ad come on for Google and someone in the ad said "Ok Google", it launched.

I disabled the google app so no Ai for me + bixby is disabled too so no more key presses lolz. On the other hand, no samsung can't get rid of google's own Ai, that would ruin their reputation and pretty sure google won't appreciate it they already went against samsung for other stuff couple years back(mostly because they didn't include google apps). Unless samsung releases their own OS that won't happen. Android might be free but google owns it still if samsung dosen't include it they'll be in trouble for sure.

Ok Google wake up command does not work when the screen is turned off in S8/S8+. Only Bixby will work that way. Otherwise, all is fine with Ok Google.

I also have both Ok Google and use Bixbye (I choose flashlight!) Lol
they both still function! IDK bro!

Well don't forget Bixby is still in beta and isn't fully integrated for everyone. I could totally see OK Google going away once Bixby is up and fully running.
