I'm on AT&T an I was wondering is the an app or shortcut to turn data on and off other than the steps below?

From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.

Tap Settings > Connections.

Tap Data usage.

Tap Mobile data.

Slide the Mobile data Switch to the ON or OFF position.

Nope. That's it.

If your launcher supports activities you can create a shortcut to that screen but you'd still have to toggle that manually (it just saves you having to open Settings, Connections, Data Usage, Mobile Data... just goes straight to the screen with the toggle).

It's a little bit of work, and no ROOT required. I did it to my phone. If you'd like I can see about shooting a video and posting it in the next day or so.

Can always tell Bixby to turn off data, though that's not always convenient or you might not want to have to tell her.

I have TMobile and I just go through the windows. I have a Verizon Samsung Tab S3 tablet that has a simple button that you press in the pull down menu to turn the data on and off. Wish ATT and Tmobile did that. Not sure why they don't.

Yup, Bixby works for that too... But there will be a warning message when you try to disable data; not sure if a one-time thing or if it's something they'd have to dismiss every time.

Isn't there a mobile data switch on your quick settings panel?

Is your Note unlocked? Or had the above procedure performed? Otherwise (at least on Verizon and T-mobile) the toggle is not there unless you do the ADB steps above.

It's there on my Verizon phone. I didn't do anything special to get it.

Huh... Well then, I guess Verizon model does have it. OP, see if you can add it as a button to the quick toggle shade... If not, you're in the same boat as T-mobile users: it's not there.

It's on Sprint too. You are aware that if you swipe your settings panel from right to left there's another whole screen of settings. That's where mine is. See the 2 black dots under location in post 7's screen shot? He's on the left side, there's still a right side of options

Try pressing the three dots top right when the full panel is open.

Click button order

It will show some unused icons at the bottom which can be moved up to the main shade

See if it's there and drag it up to use it

Sorry should probably have said my phone is direct from Samsung and in the UK. Although it appears not to matter

AFAIK some US carriers actually removed that. I know tasker can add toggles to the quick settings but not sure it can add the data toggle.

I'm on Verizon but you might be able to put a shortcut on a home screen using Quick Shortcut Maker. I've been using this app for many years on all my Android devices for shortcuts that Verizon doesn't think us users need. It's free and works fantastic. Link to it in the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut

Once you install the app, open it and do a search for "mobile data". What I found on my Verizon version is this in the screenshot, that will bring up the screen with a toggle to turn it on or off. I just tried it after seeing this thread. Once you find the correct toggle, you can test it before creating the shortcut on your home screen. At that point it would just be a tap on the shortcut which would open the screen with the switch and then tap on the switch to toggle on or off.
