im up for an upgrade and im stuck btwn 9650 and evo, i went to local sprint store and told myself ill just get the 9650 but then i played with the evo and i dunno , it may be hard to admit it but i fell in love with it, it felt grt in my hand , the screen was straight sex, it was quick speedy and looks like i could have alot of fun with it, but i went home read all these reviews and what worries me is if this battery is that terrible , i currently have the palm pre so battery isnt grt either, would you guys consider it better then the pre, and what kinda hours are you getting out of it? i don't mind charging just when i see it lasts 4 5 hrs i just don't have that kinda patience thanks guys

I get 15-20+ hours from a single charge. Take a look at the 7 or 8 battery threads in both this sections and the rooting section. =)

I get 10hrs with relatively heavy usage, I have my screen brightness at auto which eats battery, I have a spare oem battery and dont fret over battery use

i tried but all i saw was guys giving advice on how to get a little more juice out of them or one guy saying he gets 20 and 1 guy says he getting 4, i just thought pple would chime in give me a def number so i can see what id be getting myself into , that's for the input bud

If you use it the same way you'd use a BB, I think it's very comparable. I get 16+ hrs everyday with moderate use. However, with all the new capability, you might find yourself using it more ... and the battery will die quicker if you do.

My battery life has been all over the place... your going to get better battery life out of a BB for the most part. You can squeeze a good amount of life out of the EVO if you take steps to conserve life. I average 14 - 16 but have now gotten as low as 7 and as high as 30. Today was the 7 hour day... I was on it for almost 5 straight hours between texting, a little bit of web and some Facebook. I figured with the texting it was the haptic feedback (when texting it vibrates with every incoming and outgoing text and every time you type or hit a key) I was texting with 4 different people almost nonstop for 5 hours and it killed it fast. I have now turned off the Haptic Feedback in Texting and will see how it holds up.

I purchased a spare battery and even got it two days before I got the phone so I have back up at all times..

Your going to get better life with a BB but your going to give up on (as Sprint likes to call it) the richer data experience... Which is a major upgrade..

I really considered returning my phone after the first few days of having it. It would only last 4 or 5 hours in standby mode. I couldn't figure it out.

I added the 4G link on my home screen and, by only turning off 4G I get well over 8 hours per charge. Just it searching for 4G signal drains it fast.

I still have a lot to learn about this phone, but I absolutely love it already. All the battery talk scared me at first, but it's definitely not as bad as people think.

I sent and received a little over 30 text messages, surfed the net for an hour, took 4 30-second 720p videos, watched them a few times, took a couple of photos and spent about 10 minutes in the market and my battery is at 45% (I unplugged at 100% at 7am, and it's now 8:30pm). And had Wi-Fi on all day long (although most of the day Wi-Fi wasn't accessible). So not shabby.

I also have e-mail set to download 4 times an hour and auto brightness on.

I am getting 15+ hours as well. I also came from the Pre and IMO the Evo is far superior to the Pre in battery

I was getting about 5 hours at first before I found and mastered configuring Automatic Task Killer, I'm easily getting 12-18 hours under normal usage. I put it on the charger at work today after 15 hours and it had just dipped below 30%. The problem with the reviewers getting short life and thus frightening people is that they don't use them long enough to condition the battery and properly tweak the phones. Granted, this shouldn't be necessary, but it's not an insurmountable problem and we're here to help people to figure things out.

Definitely not nearly as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.

I've gotten 25+ hours several times.. and probably average 10-25 depending on how often I use the navigation.

Dont forget.. The reviews dont go out of their way to use Wifi, or reduce the screen brightness.

They go balls to the wall with the phone and use the network, have bluetooth or 4g on, and try to use as many features and apps as possible during the review.

Most people will be like that for their 1st week with the phone until they are happy with it, then magically youll notice your battery lasting 15 hours without a charge versus the 3 when you had "new phone fever"

Launch day Evo

16 hours and counting so far on the day.
Battery remaining at 30%

3 hours of Voice calls
52MB of data used on 3G
23MB of data used on Wifi
5 Marketplace Updates, 2 new installs
18 texts
7 emails

Bluetooth Off, 4G Off, Hotspot Off, No twitter feed, No friendstream.

That's just about good enough for me. And I've noticed it takes forever for the battery to drain down from 10% to 0.

The battery last longer than my Pre did at launch and will only get better as soon as the 2.2 updated is released.

SO from my point of view with using Exchange, texting, calls, and internet during lunch. the battery holds up just fine.

Of the charger at 7am and by 9pm still have about 30% on average.

And chargers are cheap. I keep them everywhere. Extra batteries are on ebay for like $10 for two, and the ones I got are better than the original.

its my second day still messing with it every chance i get and unpluged and 330 am central time and its now 905pm central and its only at 44% with moderate use ( no gps, bluetooth, or 4g) the auto sync and fb and gmail is on.... Id say iam pretty happy with it.
