Is the camera any better?

$1400 should present a crystal clear winner.

Yes. At 1000 and 14000, a new 2020 phone with new sensors should be a clear winner. I view it as a $300 phone though :) and if it's worth spending 300 for a small upgrade, if any. I have about 30 min to waste, gonna go outside and take some pictures with Note and S20

I dont know. Pretty much the same size as my Note 10 but more comfortable to hold. 120hz is nice. I think skin tones have improved. Haven't played that much with it, came from work 10pm

It's the same story....$1000 bucks....hell no. Roughly 330 that I paid for it (with Note trade) + leather case and fast wireless changer, well that's almost free :) If I needed a phone, didn't have a trade, I would never buy S20, and its nuts to pay 1400 for Ultra :) Pixel is a much better deal now.
Maybe give little more time , but I wouldn't pay 1000+ without a trade in also .

Yea, without a trade in deal I wouldn't have touched it with a ten foot pole. With trade plus the referral code that was going around I paid $759.99 for the ultra and got free wireless buds+ and leather case (exactly $200 value). I would of liked to have been able to wait for further software updates and reviews but that damned pre order deal was too good to pass up.

It sucks turning into a camera nut because I've always been against upgrading every year and this is the first time since the S2 to S3 that I've upgrade one year to the next. My main concern almost as much as the camera getting fixed and improved is the form factor. I've always been the one to get the regular models and not the plus and get the thinnest case possible as I dont like big blocky feeling cases. The camera bump sticking out of the back concerns me with setting the phone down on it's back like say on my desk because of the thickness of the phone, I might have to rock no case at all, lol.

I'm slightly disappointed in the camera as well. This thing has the hardware kit to be the best camera (phone) on the market but the software just needs a lot of work. Same old story with Samsung. I'll wait and see what the update brings. Hopefully it is a work in progress and they won't just push out one update and say "done". If they keep improving the software over time the camera should turn out to be quite stellar but Samsung doesn't exactly have a track record to make me confident they will do that. Other than that I'm really liking the display, especially with 120hz refresh. The size of the display is great for me. However, overall I'm not sure its worth the upgrade from my Note 10+. Other than the hyped camera and 120hz it is not much different than any other galaxy experience from the past 1.5 years. I'll give it the full return period, in which I hope the update will be pushed, before I make the decision whether to send in my trade in or return the Ultra.

That's cool the zoom is improved. How about fixing things that people use. No one bought this phone to use 100x effing zoom. For real.
The softening faces and auto focus were part of the update too. So hopefully the real life reviews are improved.

That price I can do , between 500 to 800 I'll definitely do with trade ins , I really hope some updates make this camera feel amazing, I'm a thin case person also so I understand that but I'm not crazy about thicker phones . So I'll see what they do with the Note 20 and make a decision at that time .

I am glad that I cancelled my pre-order, it may not be as bad as some say but I think there is enough anecdotal evidence now to know that the ultra is not a game changer and is likely still behind the iPhone and Pixel for general use. My gut feeling though is that if the S10s handling of movement in scenes has not been improved then it is also likely that the 1 year old P30 Pro is probably also a better bet too.

Very little on the standard 20 and 20+ though so will be interesting to see how they are?

so jus a general question, as this camera topic is up. if we were to compare the following 3 phone series, the S10 series, Note 10 Series, S20 series. what major difference is there in terms of camera and camera tech.

i cant afford the S20 so i'm thinking about jus getting a 10 series for now, which in my opinion is new enough to do what i want for a couple years. \

so the experts and the users of the S10 and Note 10 series, what do yall say?

The 108MP sensor, 8K video and the zoom is insane on the Ultra. From what I've seen, nothing tops it.

You might as well save hundreds of dollars and go by the Galaxy s8. The camera lens was not changed from the 8 to the 10 series from what I can see...Not until the S20 were some actual hardware improvements made. Yes they had that BS dual aperture thing on the S9... But yeah.... BS.

I have an S8 and I don't have night mode or pet mode
