Is the Epic's six-axis accelerometer a unique accelerometer?

Does a six-axis accelerometer differ from a "regular" accelerometer? I would imagine that's more axes than the usual accelerometers have, but I'm not sure.

If anybody knows, I'd be curious to know how it compares to a normal accelerometer, and also how it compares to the iPhone 4's gyroscope.

typical is 3. its what you would call a "G-Sensor" I'm not really sure how it differs, I just hope I don't have to hold the phone funny when I talk.
FYI, the iphone 4 has one from I believe the same company, but is only 3 axis.
