Is the htc evo lte really worth the hype??

Agreed but the sensor in this thing isn't back lit or anything and has a low aperture so I doesnt allow much light in. This phone hands down won't beat the one x. You might think so and you can think and do whatever you want but it just won't. Also the s4 chip is stronger then the omap 4460

It shouldn't be expected to though. This phone is newer with newer technology. Of course it beats it--if it didn't it'd be a waste, no?

It would be but saying the one x camera is not as good as the galaxy nexus after one review. Other reviews say how great it is. I would expect a new phone to be better most definitely but I'm just saying as a galaxy nexus owner that this camera isn't great and after most shots I've seen on the one x is a huge leap.

I keep getting mixed reviews from users some people say the nexus hasn't a better camera than even the rebound! I guess we will have to wait and see

yeah, this camera debate is going to be the decidng factor for me. if only they can put that camera, processor, and screen into the nexus, it will be perfect! haha. i still can't decide which phone to get, but most likely the nexus when it comes out, then maybe sell it and get the evo whenever that comes out. i am such a phone whore.

Dude, you may as well get the Evo LTE. There are 7 MAJOR key points that make up a phone:

1. Operating System (version number and Skin, if applicable)
2. CPU
3. Screen (resolution, size and type)
4. Camera (mp, and quality)
5. data connectivity (Network and 4G type)
6. Battery (Size, performance, removable)
7. Call Quality

You already want #2, #3, and #4. The GN and Evo LTE will both have #5. The Evo LTE eill have new tech to improve #7.

That leaves #1 and #6. Both will have the same OS (#1) but the Evo LTE has Sense. Now unless you HAVE TO HAVE STOCK ANDROID, then I don't see the big deal here. (Notice how I did not mention that 4 letter R word)

Now, #6 is a deal breaker for a few of us. Evo LTE has a bigger battery and a more power efficient processor, but its non-removable unlike the GN. So, I would weigh all of that before deciding.

HAHA, i know you are absolutely right, all logics point to evo lte. i actually don't mind sense and am looking forward to be able to use t9 diale again. but the phone whore inside me is telling me that i can no long live w/ the n4g and must get the gn now. then in 2 months, sell the gn to get a evo lte. i had thought of all your points already, but the desires for a new phone NOW is too strong. haha. i already called custoemr service today and paid $95 into the buyout program. we'll see, maybe i will come into my senses and just wait for the evo lte to come out then get a new phone.

HAHAHA, I feel the same way... but nit with regards to the Galaxy Nexus. The phone is becoming "last year's high end tech". I have my sights set on the EVo LTE and the Galaxy S III. My problem with the GSIII is simply that I have to wait too long after the new Evo is out before I can get Sprint's GS3 variant. By then, summer is damn near over. Now if the GS3 was coming to Sprint in July, then, I could be tempted to wait it out. Now I'm aware that there is no official release date for the new Evo, but it just passed through the FCC, so it won't be long.

The fact that I had no idea when the Sprint variant of the Galaxy SII was coming at the time of the E3D's release is what prompted me to get the E3D.

I think the main attraction for the nexus is its software updates and ease of developement. I love the fact that when Jelly Bean pushes out the nexus will have it asap. Meanwhile Evo/OneX users will most likely be waiting At least 6 months for an update. Just look at my evo3d there isnt even a decent ICS rom available.

well, part of the reason the nexus isn't as attractive to me is the fact that it took google 6 months to update the ns4g. so i don't know if that's still the advantage of having a nexus anymore.

Ya but look at it this way. What devices have gotten ICS updates so far. The nexus s 4g is one of the only ones, if not the only one so far. So I don't think it's that bad. A 2 year old device has gotten the update before a 6 months device? Sounds good to me

Another problem with the Nexus is the exclusivity agreements. I would have no problem getting the Nexus if they did not arrive on Sprint so late in the game. The Nexus S 4G came out when Dual Cores was becoming standard for high end devices. I would have gotten it had it came out on Sprint around when it came out on T-Mobile. Then, there is the Galaxy Nexus. i would have gotten that phone had it been available on Sprint back in December like it was on Verizon. The problem is that Nexus phones start showing up on other networks when Hardware manufactures already have it beat, while being equal on Software.

THE ONLY 2 ADVANTAGES TO HAVING A NEXUS PHONE IS STOCK ANDROID and PRIORITY UPDATES. (I say Priority updates because as the above poster said, It took about 6 months for them to update the NS4G to ICS. So, I'll stick with the Evo.

6 months isnt bad for a two year old phone. Sent form my less than one year old Evo3d which is not running ICS!

6 months isn't bad for a non nexus phone, but when other non nexus phones got their updates before a nexus, that's what I have a problem with.

Sprint network and 2 year contract plus Sprint bloatware makes the new Evo a do not buy. If you like the new Evo then make yourself a favor and get an unlocked one x.

Exactly what other phone has ICS that didnt come with it stock.??

htc vivid on att got it before ns4g, some of the international verison of galaxy s 2, one of the htc phone in Australia. if you want to count tablet then the xoom and my transformer pad. not sure if i miss any other US phone, but the fact that the htc vivid got it before the ns4g gives me good reason to consider the evo lte.

So basically one phone has gotten the update before a 2yr old nexus. Tablets don't count because there is no carrier involvement. That sounds pretty great to me actually, imagine that you have had a nexus phone for two years now and within a 6 months period of announcement you will be updated to Key Lime Pie android 6.0.2

well, i still have some faith in the nexus line, but i just feel that other oems are finally starting to pick up the pace and getting updates out faster. this is why i am actually considering a non nexus phone again. we'll see how it goes, only time can tell if it's google falling behind on updating or other companies have caught up. i was def expected to had gotten my updates back in dec last yr, and still waited patiently till i heard these international phones and the vivid got their updates. before this i was defending google too.

I'm still waiting for my update which was slated by HTC for November
