I've seen a few decent deals on it lately but I was wondering on how an almost 2 year old tablet holds up.

You can do everything with this tablet that you can do with newer models. Question is what do you need for?

Will you need back camera, more space, full hd?

I used it for navigation, as a music player and with torque app in car. I used it for email, youtube, browsing news, lurking on 4chan and some gaming when my desktop pc was being used by someone else in the house.

Now my 2yo son uses it all the time. Here (E. Europe) i found a few only few months old and with more than a year of warranty, mint condition, for only $120.

When this one breaks i will buy a used one. Trust me, try one. 720p screen looks ok. Not WOW but very very good. Details are nice. Battery life is decent. Really is. My kid abuses it all the time. On max brightness you will get full 6 hours of youtube and games, all with it's own speaker on max volume.

And i can add it is durable. Almost childproof. Mine took a few hits. Screen doesn't have a scratch, but few chunks are missing on two corners of the back cover. That is the only damage after 18 months of abusing by a little child. And it got wet a few times.

Has a kit-kat, nfc, bluetooth, wifi, has huge online community support, it is cheap, but it is powerfull enough.

Have a specific game/app on your mind? You can use/play it with this device.

Now ask yourself, what do you need from it and what do you want it to be? If what it does, satisfies all your needs, you have my full support to buy it.

In the end, what else is good... If you buy a used one and you don't like it in the end, you can always sell it very easy for the same price. Actually, looking at it this way, you have no risk buying it.

Good luck

This is really great post and think it might have just convinced me to buy a nexus 7.

I just bought a 2012 Nexus 7 from a co-worker.

He used it only once since he prefers iOS.

So basically brand new, 32 gb and a smart cover.

All that for 125 $.

And yes it's a great device.
